Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a native of Memphis, Tennessee, an Elmwood Cemetery interpreter and a historic property docent. Local gay community historian and writer. Have memorials for the Astor, Garavelli and Hill families related to me and some interesting personages I know about.
I will be posting more photos so my family members will become real people again and not just some leftovers under the grass.

C W Frazer
The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library site has interesting information on this man - memorial #789556 C W Frazer. If this is indeed the same person he was a prisoner on Johnson Island (Civil War Prison in Ohio). They have a letter from his wife Lettia to President Lincoln asking for his release, which Lincoln complied with. There is also a photo and more information. Thanks
Barbara Henry

18842151 Alma Neely
Hi Vincent - this is a strange carving on her stone - indicating she was Alma Neely AND Mrs. F M Duggar.

I'm glad I knew the marriage date, because otherwise, it would seem she died 1 Aug 1900! I have sent a link to her spouse, but he was married once before her and once afterward, so I hope they all link up.
Thanks for finding Alma.~Cheers, Shirleen

I notice that there is another memorial for him that predates yours. You may want to contact the lady and see how she wants to handle that. Pics added today.

Memphis Mayors
Ok, Walter L Clapp is in ELmwood, Miller Cirlce # 130. William O. Lofland ended up in California. He died in Auburn, Placer Co., Ca on 12-21-1891. I believe it is likely he is buried in Alameda County, CA (Bay Area). This is not confimed.

Mayor Tho. Ashcroft
I believe his middle initial was 'C' not 'H'. According to the 1916 Memphis City Directory Thomas C. Ashcroft was the mayor of Memphis. He is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Chapel Hill Circle, No. 1. He died in 1935.

Mayor Wm. Decater Bethell
He moved, died and was buried in Denver in 1906. Here's a link to his memorial: #13461474 His daughter Jenny married an Edrington and is buried in Elmwood (possibly in Lenow Circle). Most, if not all, the other kids are buried in the Denver plot. Wife was a Pillow. Not sure of connection, if any, to Gideon Pillow.
