RE: Dorothy & August Karst Headstone
Yes, I believe she is still living too. Prairie Union Cemetery has a habit of putting people's names on their list if they have purchased a plot, even if they have not occupied it yet. If you can confirm that she is still alive, please let me know and I will delete her memorial. Thanks! Ken

RE: Garrison/Hull
Hi cousin Shirley.

Because of four pieces of information, I do think I know where your Enoch Smith Hull might be buried at.

He most likely is buried at Freeport Cemetery, Freeport, Wirt County, West Virginia.

The 1st piece of information that points to this cemetery is that son, Inesy William Hull (he went by the name of William) is buried at Freeport Cemetery, Find A Grave Memorial# 7607119.

The 2nd piece of information that points to this cemetery is that Enoch Smith Hull is found in the 1870 U.S., Federal Census Mortality Schedules (found under the name of "E. S. Hull"). This record shows that he died in Wirt County, West Virginia, killed by lightning (gives his death date as May 1870).

The 3rd piece of information that points to this cemetery is that the family is found in the 25 June 1870 Federal census living at Clay Township, Wirt County, West Virginia (the family get their mail from the Freeport Post Office). The family is found under the name of "F. A. Hull". The census taker used "F" to stand for Foebe or Febe when her name was actually Phoebe Ann.

The family are living next to Phoebe's mother, Joanna (Johnson) Garrison, her name is listed as "Jonah Garison".

The names of Phoebe Ann (Garrison) hull and family for this 1870 census are listed below:

Gender = G
Color = C
Occupation = O
Real Estate = RE
Personal Estate = PE
Birthplace = BP

Household Members:
Name Age G C O RE PE BP
F. A. Hull 34 F W Keeps Hse PA
Elma Hull 5 F W At Home WV
Josephine Hull 4 F W At Home WV
E. W. Hull 3 M W WV
F. M. Hull 5/12 F W WV

Comment on above:
The family gets their mail from the Freeport Post Office.
The father, Enoch Smith Hull, is not recorded with the family, he is recorded on the U.S., Federal Census Mortality Schedules Index, year 1870 (May), killed by lighting one month before the 1870 US federal was taken for the family.
Phoebe is living next to her mother, Jonah (aka Joanna) Garison (Garrison).
Living with her mother Joanna is P. (Priscilla) Bennett, see is listed as being blind.
Priscilla Bennett had been living with the Garrison family for at least 20 years, at this time we do not know if Priscilla was blood kin to the family or not.
I have seen the given name of Phoebe spelled as Foebe or Febe or Phoepe or Phebe.
Elma Hull is Ella Hull.
Josephine Hull is Martha Jane Josephine Hull.
E. W. Hull is Inesy William Hull.
F. M. Hull is Flora May Hull (her birthday is written in as "Dec", but it should of read January, for she was born on 12 January 1870).

The 4th piece of information that points to this cemetery is that Flora May Hull was born at Freeport, Wirt County, West Virginia on 12 January 1870. Her place of birth was confirmed by the "Delayed Certificate of Birth" document for son, William Frederick Leep, this document gives his mother's birthplace as Freeport, Wirt County, West Virginia.

Comment on above:
Abstract of supporting evidence on above, was an affidavit of uncle F. M. Leep (dated Oct. 12, 1942); Marriage record, Harrison Co., West Virginia, by Clerk (dated May 27, 1910); Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., Policy #04530675C (dated Oct., 1, 1928); Birth Certificate of Applicant's Child, West Virginia, D.V.S.#27917 (dated Sept., 7, 1923).
________

Shirley, I do not know where Phoebe Ann (Garrison) hull is buried at, but she could very well be in one of the cemeteries located in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (for she is living with her daughter Flora May in the 15 January 1920 census at Pittsburgh).

I hope this information is of some help to you.

Warm Regards, your cousin

Arthur Miller and Gertrude Miller
Hi,

I uploaded a photo of Arthur Miller's gravesite, but could not find any stone for Gertrude. I searched all around the area where she should be buried, and there is a space there, but there was not any stone. Buried next to Arthur though, there was a Mary (Wasko) Miller. Her stone says Wife, and Arthur's says Husband.

I sent you an e-mail as well and attached a photo of the space where Gertrude's stone should be, and a photo of Mary's stone too. If Mary has a memorial on Find A Grave, and you want to upload the photo, please feel free. Or if you would rather, I could upload it for you; either way is fine with me.

Talk to you later.

Hi Shirley
Yes, those 3 cabins on French Creek you refer to. Were owned by Lulu and her daughters Ethel Smith and Martha Lewis. You are the same age as Ethels daughter Ardel. Barry is 3 yrs older and my dad Gehrett is 80 now.
Did you ever meet them in Venango ? Or up at Evelyns farm perhaps ?

RE: Webster Family
Shirley,

I live in California, too, but spend some time in VT each summer because my husband Jim Boyce is from Poultney. He is a Webster descendant as well, although not of Obadiah. His ancestor was Obadiah's brother Ashbel Webster, who m. Rachel Price. Their daughter Rachel Webster m. Caleb Warren. And Jim descends from this line.

I feel very fortunate to have gotten those photos, as all previous photos of the stones and the cemetery have been TERRIBLE because the location is so deep in the woods and so mosquito-ridden as to make being there very uncomfortable.

But Jim, my friend Fay Smith, and I climbed up into the woods and with the help of a large mirror were able to shoot light onto the stones, enough to get those photographs.
