This was a wondrous site where the upcoming generations can easily find their history and ancestors. Even after we are gone, our work will remain. Thank you, Findagrave.

My tree was done generations ago, thanks to my ancestors. Now my time is spent on documenting cemeteries, research, linking memorials, reuniting families, and connecting the dots.
My virtual flowers now represent edits.

We are all simply the guardians of those we have kindly added until their family comes along. I am eager to transfer anyone who is not family to family. BUT, request through the system, not here, not email! Demands will be ignored, "please" is simply common courtesy.

I take my heritage, 'graving' and documentation very seriously and most respectfully. Accuracy is of the most utmost importance to me, not who 'owns' a memorial. If I have made an error, please, please, let me know, politely. If you are rude, I will ignore you.

** I spend over half my time on Findagrave JUST sending edits to admin for duplicates. PLEASE double check before you add a historical person from the 1600's or back. Most likely, they have already been added.

** PLEASE read the FAQ concerning BURIALS UNKNOWN. They are to be used for RECENT deaths only, not your 176th great grandfather whose burial is 'not located yet.' I adhered to the rules, please do the same. I will not link to an unknown burial.

** If your pictures are crooked, of poor quality, out of focus, too dark to read, taken at night, shadowed, or the stone is covered in dirt or weeds, or your finger was in front of the lens, I will add my photo on the memorial. I apologize, I do not intend to offend. It is not out of disrespect for the other photographer, it is out of respect for the deceased and the family who might appreciate a good photo of the stone. Please have the gumption and consideration to post only decent, well thought out photos.

**USE THE MEMORIAL EDIT/SUGGESTION OPTION ON THE MEMORIAL you want updated for updates requests, transfer requests, or general inquiries for ANY memorial, it gives me easy access to the memorial in question, I have entered thousands. I will Ignore and delete suggestions, requests and updates and inquiries left here or in email.

RE: Apologies
Although I relish putting memorials of husbands & wives together, I certainly do understand your reasoning for not accepting this one.

Because John Gordon, Lord Gordon, Master of Huntly & Margaret Stewart (Stuart) are 15th great-grandparents to me, I've just spent several hours trying to find out just where her remains may have been buried. All to no avail, though.

Possibly, since her mother & her 2nd husband were Drummonds, she was buried on one of their properties or in a nearby churchyard. Just a wild guess!

RE: Lucy C Berry 139086643
Hi Anne - I've deleted my virtual flower for Lucy Caroline Knight-Berry-Wessling that stated "Lucy was married a second time to a John Wessling." I've not yet found (or created) a Find A Grave Memorial John as I don't yet know where he was buried. I do know that he and Lucy were married in 1923; that Johnís parents were Wm. & Margaret Kohler-Wessling; that John was born in 1874 at Chualar, Monterey Co., CA and that he died on 12/30/1966 in Tulare Co., CA.

In Lucy's memorial you mention four of her children Ė I've seen records for eight, but havenít yet found (or created) memorials for them: Benjamin Butus Berry (1889-1963), Bessie Bertina Berry (1891-1951), Elmer Berry (1895-1977), Eugene Edward Berry (1899-1979), Lula Lucine Berry (1903-_), Lula Knight (1905-1995), Mary Matilda Berry (1910-1912), Henry Berry (1913-_), and Hazel Carolyn Berry (1914-1981).

I've found this (unsourced) obituary for Lucy:
ďLucy wife of John Wessling died at age 91 in her home at Tipton, California. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alpheus Knight, who came to California in a covered wagon. In 1888 she married Joel L Berry, whose father was one of the 3 accompanying General Fremont in the unsuccessful search for the ill-fated Donner party. In 1923 she married John Wessling a lifelong area resident in Merced, California. They made their home on the avenue 160 West Tipton, California. Survivors other than her husband include 3 sons. Eugene Berry, Elmer Berry, Henry Berry. 3 daughters Mrs. Neal (Lula) White, Mrs. William (Hazel) Crawford, Mrs. Thomas (Alpha) James. Lucy had 12 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.

Am sorry for my having violated "Findagrave regulations" Ė but just like what you've stated in your own Find A Grave Bio and Links; "Now my time is spent on documenting cemeteries, research, linking memorialsÖ. My virtual flowers now represent edits." :-)

RE: Seriously, remove the photo
Did you read the description?
The Baldwin Brothers are direct decendants!
I have done years of research and I am very confident that they would be considered "Familymembers" Which is very important for other people building their trees to know! Isn't that the point of contributing to this site?
Please let the picture stay, I can send you source information if you would like.

I see you left a butterfly on John Jacob Houghtailing page. Are you related? He was my 3rd great grandfather.

Anne, do you have a transcription of the three panels marking the grave of JAmes Wolfe Murray ? I cannot zoom in to have a closer look. On the r.hand panel I can see the name Alicia Stewart Murray. Her memorial is #151950136. Photo could be added to her memorial. My interest is STRANG or STRANGE, my Orcadian ancestry, but last year I "met" a Murray descendant, who is French, but lives in USA !! He has just located James Murray's wife's grave in Rouen. She was Isabella Katherine Strange. He is arranging to have the gravestone cleaned. Two Murray children are also buried there. Once he gets good photos of the cleaned stone, he will put them on Findagrave.
