Bio Photo The following was borrowed from contributor Juanda Owens B's profile page with which I strongly agree:

"I think it is a real shame what findagrave has evolved into. What started as a noble way to link people with graves of loved ones they could never hope to see, and with the generations that had preceded them, has turned into a game for some. Memorials have turned into a kind of "trading card", a competition of who can own the most memorials and post the highest numbers. What has been forgotten by many is that these were people, loved in life and death, not a commodity to be traded or owned.
With my apologies to those that have pure motives. I hope there are more of us than there are of them".

Salem Cemetery, Liberty County GA
Hello Dawgfan,

Thank you so much for all the work you have done on this site! In searching for gravesites of relatives, I came across the following cemetery.

Salem Cemetery
Fort Stewart
Liberty County
Georgia, USA

Actually there were two listings for the same cemetery - one placed the cemetery in Liberty County and one placed it in Bryan County. The cemetery is actually in Liberty County, as you are aware.

I contacted Find A Grave and requested a merge of the two cemeteries and asked them to make sure the location data kept was correct. They have done this.

There are now about 10 duplicate memorials in Salem Cemetery from the merge, most were created by Find A Grave Nancy Ford #48188404 when she created the second listing for the cemetery. When Find A Grave merges cemeteries, they do not merge memorials.

I contacted Nancy Ford about this when I discovered the problem (you can see my communication with her on her message page) and asked her to see what she could do to eliminate the duplicates. I also asked her to request that Find A Grave merge the cemeteries. She did reply and indicated that she recognized the problem and was willing to do this, but stated that she was unable to figure out how to do it.

And so I am contacting you! Perhaps you could come up with a way of using the edit function to get the best info out there on the duplicate memorials condensed into one each? I believe most of the duplicate memorials that she created are duplicates of memorials you also created.

At least I have made you aware of the problem :-) Thank you for your time and let me know if I can help in any way.

Sincerely, Deirdre

RE: Hogarth
Sorry it took so long to reply, but I was planning on going to Hogarth Cem. and taking pictures. Last Friday I searched for the cemetery and had no luck finding it. Would you by any chance know how to get to it? It's probably growed up with weeds by now.
I figured we were dealing with the same person and your memorial had a wrong death date on it. I'm not giving up yet on locating the cemetery. It's a long drive, but I'm gonna search again in a couple of weeks. I'll be in touch with update. Wimsang

James Lanier Bowers
Hi there! You've got the wrong parents and siblings for this person. His parents were Charles Bowers and Mable Gray.

Sincerely his great-granddaughter

Mary Pelham 1831-1918
Hi: Mary is my great great grandmother. How do you know that she is buried in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Early Branch, SC? I know that Joseph Edward & Cornelia Pelham Prince have tombstones there. Did you get info from church? Thanks! Martha Moore

Edwards, Mrs E J 86014593

Fort Stewart
Liberty County
Georgia, USA

Edwards, Elizabeth Archer 68821263
b. Jan. 3, 1822 d. Apr. 29, 1872 South Salem Baptist Cemet...
Bryan County
Georgia, USA

Hello there and thank you for your work on this site! I am writing to explain the work I have sent your way re Elizabeth Jane Archer Edwards. It is a bit confusing - and, to make it even more so, I have found she has two memorials on Find A Grave.

The memorial page you created places her in the correct cemetery. The other memorial page actually places her in the same cemetery, but that cemetery is listed as being in Bryan County when Salem Cemetery is truly in Liberty County.

I have contacted the profile manager of the Bryan County Salem Cemetery memorial pages to see if she would be kind enough to merge the info she has into the memorials in the correctly listed cemetery. She has created 10 memorials for the Bryan County Salem Cemetery and all are duplicates of the Salem Cemetery in Liberty County.

I appreciate your understanding while this gets sorted out, as it is confusing to have more than one memorial page per person - and when the info listed on the pages does not agree it is even more confusing. Thanks for reading!
