Bio Photo Bill decending the steps, St Francisville, LA. one of my Davidson-Irons-Garland grandmas has been in the old family stories as Cherokee, I have come to the conclusion that she was Melungeon. others doing research on her have come to this same conclusion independently of me. most Cherokee grandma stories in the Appalachian mountain states turn out to be Melungeon. I especialy want to thank Jan for sharing her mother's and gma's old family photos. I will gladly transfer your relatives to you, just leave a message telling how you are connected. Please follow findagrave guidelines. please do not copy and post my personal photographs of my family members to other websites without my permission. recent DNA testing has not shown any Native American. however, there is Jew on the Stearns side and Iberian Peninsula to the Caucasus on Patience Irons'. I will check for messages on here.

RE: E. Davidson
Hi Nancy,

Sorry for the delay in a reply as my job has me running hard since the first of the year.

Yes, Happy New Year to you as well and I do hope you are good health.

I am not sure where I left off the discussion on my Davidson DNA but please forgive me if I am repeating myself.

Last spring I received my DNA Y-111 test results from FTDNA and it confirmed that David Richard Davidson and myself share a common paternal Davidson ancestor. I found it very interesting that we differ in only 5 SNP mutations on the Y-111 chromosome test and confirms we are in fact related and are cousins. You can see the results by going to the FTDNA Davidson Web link:

You of course will find us both in the Davidson Family Group 001, my kit number is B93200 and his is B3449. By selecting the Y-111 Marker option the results will show only my kit and David’s kit together, which for comparison purposes is very convenient, since we are the only 2 Davidsons in Family Group 001 that opted to have the more extensive Y-111 test performed.
I believe that based upon the evidence of the Y-111 DNA testing and the fact that David through his genealogical and SAR research, gives me sufficient proof that I too am a decendant of Col. Wm. Davidson. Based upon my genealogical research I descend Col Wm. Davidson through his son John Davidson who left TN and migrated to IL. John Davidson was in obscurity until my genealogical research and DNA testing made the connection possible and highly probable.
After receiving my Y-111 DNA results I was able to connect with John Lisle via em last Summer who guided me on Davidson genealogy research and runs the web site: davidsongenealogyresearch see web link below. He indicated that I had done a credible job of creating a family tree for John Davidson’s family and asked me to present him a GEDCOM of John and his decendants that he use for his research as he still has much genealogical research to do on Col. Wm Davidson and his descendants.

Last summer I went to Wartburg, TN which is the county seat for Morgan Co. and met with some individuals that work out of the old county jail that are part of the Morgan Co. historical society. I was able to learn some history and was very thrilled to be able to purchase a hard copy of a book called; “A History of Morgan County Tennessee by Ethel Freytag & Glena Kreis Ott” that contains some interesting Davidson family information.

However, since last summer I have not done much research since because of other priorities but I want to get started back to digging deeper into my Davidson ancestry.

I hope this answers some of your questions.

Best Regards,

Zenas Morgan
Hi, Nancy. I believe I am also related to Zenas Morgan (43067237) and Jesse Morgan (12537242) however I'm hoping you can help me to make the connection.

My confirmed ancestor is Sarah Ann Morgan (41771341) who married Alonzo Blodgett (2974903). I believe Zenas is Sarah's father.

Do you have any further information about Zenas which could help me to make this connection?

Here is a page which has some research on it which shows why we believe Zenas is Sarah's father:

Thanks so much for any help you can give me!

Nancy, I noticed you left a flower on my great-great Grandfather's Memorial that I created.

Are you or your husband related?

Davidson FTDNA Y-111 Results are in.
Hi Nancy,

I received my Y-111 DNA test results back and I am a match for Davidson Family Group 1 and so it is confirmed that I am related to Col Wm.Lee Davidson. My Kit number is B93200

Interestingly I almost match David R Davidson's Kit B3449 except for just a few STRs.

I am working currently with John Lisle, the FTDNA administrator for family Group 1 to get William's son John out of obscurity through whom my paternal line descends and that Davidson branch of the tree documented properly. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for pointing me in this direction as it has been most rewarding and helpful in my research!

Best Regards,

Corrections regarding E. Davidson
Hi Nancy,

Thank you for contacting Dave as he has e-mailed me and I greatly appreciate him reaching out to me. I am hopeful that research that you both have done will help me find my true Davidson lineage.

I am having another DNA test performed, this time the Family Tree Y-111 DNA test as Dave has done this one and since he is a direct descendant of Col. Wm. Lee Davidson this will either prove or disprove my paternal connection to him.

On another note, I have corrected and removed any references in my family tree and on Find A Grave that would indicated that E. Davidson was a Brevard or wd. McCrea as your research has proven this connection to be in error and am therefore sorry that I perpetuated this error. I have simply listed her as E. Davidson in my records.

Again thank you very much for your help.

Best Regards,
Dan Davidson

E. Davidson
Hi Nancy,

Thank you for letting me know. I am finding the research on E. "Elizabeth" Davidson to be very confusing so I would be grateful for any information you can add to the mystery surrounded her and her lineage would be most welcome.

RE: Elizabeth Davidson #74781062
Hi Nancy,

Thank you very much for the sending me the Family Tree Davidson DNA as I did not know about this one but will pursue this avenue too! I submitted my DNA to GED Match in hopes of making family connections through their database but have not had much success. Anyway I appreciate the information as this should help tremendously to find my Davidson family connects as well others!

Best Regards,

Hi Nancy,

Sorry for the delay in a response.

You are very welcome. Sponsoring memorials is my way of honoring my ancestors and supporting Find A Grave.

I think edits to memorials can be made by Find A Grave staff due to the "time limit" clause without creators or maintainers permission... I am not 100% sure about this. The reason, I think this true is because I have noticed that in some cases where I have submitted edits to a memorial and they were not handled (accepted, rejected, or ignored) by the creator/maintainer of that memorial in a timely manner that it appears that staff at Find A Grave will make the edits... again this is based on how I have seen some of my edits applied to some memorials. There is some Find A Grave information about the "time limit" under the "What is the new Edit tab on my contributor page? under the FAQs pages that may give you some insight.

I believe I am related to E.M.D "Elizabeth" Davidson as Col. William Lee Davidson according to my research is my 5th Great Grandfather which this should make Elizabeth my 5th GGM. However there is some mystery who E.M.D. (Elizabeth) is and I have nothing concrete, only some research indicating her possible maiden name was Brevard and she was widowed (last name McCrea) before she married Col. Wm. Lee Davidson in or about 1792 in Rockbridge VA. I would be greatly interested in learning about any research that you have gathered in support of your DAR claim as it would be appreciated.

On another note, I submitted to DNA testing in hopes of validating my Davidson paternal lineage through the Y chromosome since it is directly passed from father to son. I am hoping in time that other male Davidson descendants of Col William Lee Davidson will submit to DNA testing so my connection can be made with absolute certainty. I have family tree on that you are most welcome to visit and is called Davidson-Williams Family Tree. Please note that it is still a work in progress as I have much research to conduct from the 4th generation back and so some of the information I have gleaned from other family trees in some cases have errors that I have yet to correct, amend, or omit.

Best Regards,
Dan Davidson
