I adore history, especially if it's family history. I love telling and collecting old family stories. I want to collect as many stories, pictures, or photos that i can to share with others and to share with other generations, family members and friends. |
I think Find A Grave is a wonderful website. It helps so many people in many ways. The lovely quiet places where our loved ones rest are very important to our worlds history.

|Marilyn Morris||Bertha Eunice Coontz Witt|
The obituary of Joe Witt, son of Joseph Allen "J. A." & Bertha Eunice Countz Witt was published in The Courier of Russellville on May 24, 2017. You may want to look it up.

I think I told you that my grandmother lived next door to Allison and Eunice Witt when I was growing up. I loved to visit her because she always had "cookies." smile
My daughter is trying to imput the entire Shinn book that she found online. It has taken her months and she has them scattered in different trees. One is My Forever Tree in Ancestry. One is FamilySearch.org which is a free public tree and one is Family Tree Maker. When she finally merges all the information she gets from that book, it should be HUGE. Its a public tree because we found and downloaded it online ourselves. It is the History of the Shinn family in Europe and America.

Sorry it took so long to respond. I usually don't find this area. Countz is a rare one spelled the way that it is. Some people have mistaken the z at the end and put a y and I find records on my ancestors that are plainly Z to ME, but I can see how they thought it was a Y because people these days just don't do cursive writing anymore so they can't read it either.
So I have to check the names of County and Kuntz and Koonce and Kunts to make sure they are not related. But I try to stick to just Countz.
One thing I like to do is to bring up a new window and log into Find a Grave and then for last names just imput Countz and no first or middle names.
There are so few of them spelled that way you can find all the ones that find a grave has on just that list. There are only 77 of them listed and it is my goal to connect to all of them and put them in my family.

How did you get a pic of Bertha Countz Witt? Thank you for posting it. I love when people post pictures!!! Countz spelled that way is really rare and I think I'm related to most of them one way or another. LOL
My connection is from Victor Erwin Countz. He was my step father but reared me from age 2 so I have always considered him my father.
Bertha's brother, Charles Z Countz was my grandfather.

|Cecil Vaden Jr.||David Groce @ Forest Park|
I see you added a picture request for David Groce @ Forest Park Cemetery in Houston. If you would call the cemetery at 713-928-5141 and get a "SECTION" and "LOT" I will try to get the picture you want. This is a very large (225+) acre cemetery and without a location would be very hard to find. They are open on the weekend and I might go Monday so try to get the info.

Yes you have found the Witt line that I am also a part of. I have not looked recently, but our line should be on the World Family Tree, Ancestry.com
I spent many years searching our line to use it as my entrance to become a member of the DAR. I ran into issues and ended up using my mother's lineage for membership.
I have not spent much time on genealogy for the last few years. But I miss it so much. Loved doing the research. Hope to get back to it this fall.
Let's keep in touch and I will see if I can be of any help. Thanks for contacting me.

Thanks for the reply.
BDR Shinn Jr and Martha Tucker are my great, great grandparents. So we are indeed kin !
BDR Sr had BDR Jr who married Angeline Eubanks. They had a daughter, Calvin Eula "Callie" Shinn, my grandmother.

If you are kin to the BDR Shinn and Martha Tucker, I would like to talk to you.
