Bio and Links
Bio Photo If I leave a Rose, this means that the memorial page is for someone in one of my family trees. Some are 'just' a connection, but they are connected to me somehow!

I have been working on my own Family Tree for about the past 15 years. I know how difficult it is to get information for ancestors when you don't live in the state they did, and don't know where they are buried. Since I found a few extra links for my family on FindAGrave I would like to pay forward to others in the same dilemma. So I decided to pick a nearby cemetery and photograph all the gravestones. When I am done with the first one, I will see if I can't work on another.

10-7-2013 - Already done with, the initial photographs of, one small cemetery of about 300 graves. In the process, I was able to find a few stones that were almost completely buried, and have gently cleaned a few, that were so covered in lichen, they could not be read. Of course I got permission first and only used an extremely soft brush, water, and plenty of scrubbing repetitions. It is so rewarding to be able to read the engraving once again. I tried to make sure to still leave a little of the lichen for age. Now to re-photograph the graves I couldn't read before, and retake those that were not up to my standards.

I am also about a third to halfway through photographing a second cemetery of about 900 graves. It is definitely a process clearing the faces of all those flat gravestones. I have grown to appreciate the upright stones, they are a lot less work.

Peters/Brown family
Sarah A Elsea Thompson
Sarah A Elsea Thompson was my gr gr grandmother. My grandmother was Clementine (Brown) Peters the daughter of George B Brown and Lillie Mae (Thompson) Brown. Lillie Mae was the daughter of William L Thompson and Sarah A (Elsea) Thompson. Sarah A Thompson, dau Lillie M Brown and dau Lona are buried at Ewing Cemetery in Macon County near the family farm where our family still resides. How are you related to William Elsea? Do you live in Missouri? Have tried to find more information about the William L Thompson family but have had no luck.

Vera Thigpen (#110937105)
Thanks for the edits on Vera Thigpen. Unfortunately, I just now noticed that I have edits in my profile. It's finally done; from now on, I'll keep an eye on that little tab.

I'm still learning about this site....

Ila V. (Elsea) Gordon #79924180
I checked to see where I got Ila's birthdate and apparently it was from her death certificate. It also appears that her birthdate on it is in error because if you use her age at the time of her death (67 years, 5 months and 6 days) it would give her a birthdate of February 12, 1868. I have now included the death certificate info. on her memorial and changed her birthdate to February 1868. Also added a note to the bio. that the death cert. may be in error as to her birthdate. Hope this helps.

RE: Alice Adra Elsea #67134606
Ooops, I am sorry. I forgot they made some changes recently in how a contributor receives edits. The ones you sent were sent to me and left on my contributor page hidden behind the edit tab! I forgot to check there before responding to your message. I just remembered and clicked on it and sure enough there they were. Again, I am sorry. I should have checked since that feature is so new, I just forgot to look there. It has been a long day for me so I guess I had better check my EDIT tab more often. Have a nice day, Farm Girl from MO.

RE: Alice Adra Elsea #67134606
I have added her death certificate info. to the memorial for Alice and changed her name to Alice Adra Elsea. Also changed the birthdate to match the death certificate & obit date along with a note mentioning the different date.

I have also corrected the typing error in her obituary. Check her memorial out again if you like. Yes, you would think the edits would have come directly to me. I will have to check into that as I may have just missed them. Thanks again for the edits.

RE: Elsea Gravestones
You are welcome, Holly. On one side of the big stone was Elsea and on the other side of the stone was the surname Miller. I added pictures for Mary Catherine Elsea Miller #61961475 and Albert L. Miller. #59486816. I found another Albert Lincoln Miller #61961701, on Find A Grave. I tend to add the picture to the page that was added first to Find A Grave when no photo request is asked for.

Mary Arnold & Millie Bishop
Thanks for sending me the info to link appropriate family members for Mary & Millie. Actually, I knew all those folks were related and should have done the link a long time ago, so I'm sorry you had to tell me, but I'm so glad you did since it needed to be done.

Are you related to the Elseas or Bishops?
