Retired elementary teacher who is really "into family genealogy" and enjoys helping others with research. Enjoy fishing with my husband and being with 5 grandchildren who are involved in sports. Keeps us busy. Please feel free to use any of the photos I take on your family tree or copy them if you choose. You do not have to "give me credit" and don't have to use my name. It is an honor to volunteer to do this and hopefully helps others as much as it has helped me.|
Note for 2014 - I have finished taking pictures at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau and placed them on the memorial pages. Some tombstones were not "readable" so 100% is impossible. New comment: As of October 2014 all of New Lorimier has been photographed. I am still working on updating and adding information. I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to John Hinkle who originated most of these cemetery memorial pages. He has done a tremendous service to our community. And thank you to Mr. Weaver at the city cemetery office for all his help. Without him, these pictures would not have been possible.
2015 - A big thanks to Mr. Jim Crites at the city cemetery office for providing pictures of burials at New Lorimier and Fairmount. He has been so helpful and it means a lot to those searching for their family.
2017 Though I have slowed down a lot due to old age, several of us are attempting to photograph Old Lorimier. If you want to help, please contact me or the cemetery office.

Thanks Ruth for the photo of her stone. I see that the stone dates are different from her death certificate. I think I will use the death certificate dates----but do so much appreciate the photo. It is clear and very nice. Barbara

Sounds good to me. How's St Mary's coming now? Almost done or still a lot to go? Big cemeteries sure take a long time to get through.-Brenda

Can you figure this situation out? I think it's a dup but I'm not sure and I added a new pic on the one you had. #132830420 (is yours) and #16014011 is John Hinkle's. Well, you don't have #132830420 but it's your picture. On Mr Hinkle's I submitted a date change since it was typed in wrong.

The sisters take new names when they take their vows; it's as if they are reborn. The names would not match any birth certificates. Also, they take a vow of poverty and therefore, a simple stone would be in line with their way of living.
I actually called my daughter who just completed 13 years of Catholic education and these were the answers we came up with.

I never saw so many of the same family in the same area before. Took all the Werner's I saw and had to add one or more too.

Here is another photo I've retaken. For Ruth McMullen #15671190. Would it make it easier if I just made a list and send at one time or as I come across them? Some days I don't have any for you and other days I do. I'm still plugging away at Memorial Park.
|Pat LaCroix||RE: Lacroix family at St. Mary's Cemetery|
Thanks for the update Ruth. I will look at them and see what needs to be changed. I appreciate so much the work you do walking St. Mary's. I had planned to make it down there and do some grave searching this spring, but here it is almost summer! Maybe in the fall --- of next year? :)

My picture for Wilda Welker #16454292 is darker than yours, think your's had the sun. Decide which one. Thanks for the info regarding Norah Harnes. I will call Memorial Park and find out if they can find her.
|Brenda Johnson||Norah Harnes #170570917|
Can you find out if Norah Harnes is actually buried here? You've been keeping up with this cemetery so I thought you might be able to help if she is actually there. Her husband isn't and Diane tried to change the location and it gave her problems. Think it ended up being Unknown now but she did make the husband one for Memorial Park. Norah didn't have a stone by him and I plan on calling them Monday to find out if she is buried there (at Memorial). I am completing that section now. Then I will get back to Diane on what I find out.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if you want me to delete mine. By the way, are some of the stones difficult to photograph at St Marys too? Or is it the aging of the stones themselves that causes the difficulty to read them? Makes me wonder what type to buy now.-Brenda
