Bio and Links
Bio Photo Transfers: I will transfer ownership to direct descendants within four generations - the same as Find A Grave guidelines. Otherwise, I'm happy to add to memorials and make links, just click on the "Edit" tab on the top right of the memorial.

One line of my ancestors (CROSE) lived in Tippecanoe Co., IN in the 1820s. Some of their cousins lived in the next county to the south, Boone, and some south of that in Hendricks Co. I live in northern Hendricks Co., and am taking photos mostly in Boone and Hendricks, including the older, more difficult to read stones. Hopefully, these photographs will be around longer than the headstones. Many are on the verge of not being readable - even with the sun at a good angle and using tricks to bring out the text.

Since I've been doing genealogy research for a number of years, I can see a real benefit in seeing headstones, rather than relying on a transcription. To me, the important thing is to be able to read the inscription (names & dates, child of ...), but not really the verse below it. It's also important to know who is buried next to who. I'll mention that if I notice a connection.

Cemeteries that are completed - meaning that I photographed everything and have posted all that was readable. Other transcriptions may have more names.
Beck - Bethel (Boone Co.) - Bethel (52nd St Indy) - Browns Wonder - Jones -
Lowry -Macedonia - Mintonye - Mt Union -
Mt. Zion - North Branch - Oak Hill (Sect 1-30, 34N & 34S) - Plainview (Colfax) - Pleasant Hill (Indy) - Pleasant View (Dover) - Poplar Grove - Prebster - Old Union Church - Richland - Robison - St. Malachy West - Salem - Sparks - Taylor - Trotter (I can only find 33 of the 64 markers) - Weaver - Zionsville

I currently use a 10M Canon Powershot camera which will take pictures at 3648 x 2736 pixels. Normally I reset the resolution to 2272 x 1704 and then on the computer, especially with worn headstones, I turn up the contrast 20-30%, and lower the brightness 5-10% and keep the compression at 98 to 99%. When I started posting for Find a Grave, the photo file size limit was 250 KB, then 350, 500, 750, 2000 3000 and now 8000 KB. I use photo editing software that I downloaded for free - it's much better than what Canon or Olympus gives you with their camera. With Photoscape I know the file size before I save the file.

Albert Park Stephenson
Marc, on Albert's Bio. # 39274710, you say that Mattie Stephenson is buried near him. Did you add Mattie to F-A-G? I couldn't find her? On Albert's death certif., he says Mattie is his mother, Arthur is his father. Thx.

Would you please transfer management of Naomi Von Patterson #71896046 to me. Her mother was my aunt Lelah Von Patterson. I am in Facebook contact with her 91 year old aunt along with her children. I just posted the newspaper article about Naomi's tragic 1910 death.

Thanks, Gayland Isley

Marc,
I am sorry for upsetting you. I had been told the the old patriot and everton cemetery were the same. I deleted the photo in the OP cem..

Is there a difference in the two?

Sorry for not writing to get this right before doing what I did.

RE: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, IN
Thank you. Yes, I realize he isn't your memorial, but you have a photo of John Shaw's (possibly Joseph's brother), so I just thought I would ask. The cemetery staff told me they don't have records back that far. Thank you for the transcription info. I appreciate your help!

Hi! Would you happen to have a photo of Joseph Shaw's (b.1786, d.1853) gravestone? There is a memorial showing him being buried there, but no pic of the stone. He is possibly a brother of John Shaw (b. 1792). Thank you in advance!

Transfer request
Hi Marc,

I am hoping you would transfer the memorials of my great grandparents - William Heatherington (#74459259) and Mary Jane Hanson Heatherington (#74413506). I've recently found their obituaries and would like to add more information to their memorials.

Thank you,

Karin Thomas
