I'm a thirty-something female who works in a local doctor's office as a front desk personnel. I live in Great Falls, MT with my mom, little sister, and two cute pooches. I've always found cemeteries relaxing and a great place to visit or learn an area's history. I've enjoyed adding to the local cemeteries here in town on FAG and enjoy fulfilling requests. If there is a correction that needs to be made on any memorial I manage, just let me know. I may not be the fastest individual to process those edits, but they ultimately get done. Or if you're just looking to chat about cemeteries in general, I'm open as well. :)|
The names in my family tree are:
McRae/Nicholson (not sure which it is right now)

|Joe Figueiredo||Searching for Gruwell Family Members|
My name is Joe Figueiredo. I am a volunteer researcher at the United States Army Heritage and Education Center, [USAHEC], www.usahec.org, in Carlisle, PA.
I have been researching the story of a WWII Army paratrooper and I am hoping you may answer some perplexing questions.
His name is: Robert R. Gruwell, DOB: October 8, 1923. Born in Los Angeles, CA [?]. His mother is listed on military papers as Virginia Cooper. I do not know if Robert was born out of wedlock, if his mother was married to a Gruwell and then divorced, or if he was a stepson of Virginia Cooper's, etc. His sister is also Virginia Cooper, but her married name may be Virginia Bunkofske.
Robert was a Private in the 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Robert parachuted into Southern France on August 15, 1944 and was killed in action that same day. Robert was buried by person(s) unknown in an unknown grave in Southern France. Robert's body was deem Non-Recoverable by the US Army in 1950 and remains so to this day.
During my research, I discovered Robert's name is listed as MIA, [he has no grave marker], on a tablet by the American Battle Monuments Commission, [ABMC], www.abmc.gov, in the Brittany American Cemetery, Saint James, France.
I also discovered another Gruwell was buried in the Brittany American Cemetery.
His name is: Roy A. Gruwell, Jr., DOB: 1917, living in San Luis Obispo, CA at the time of enlistment into the US Army. He enlisted in the Army on February 20, 1941 and was a Technical Sergeant. He was KIA somewhere in France on August 14, 1944, ironically one day before Robert was killed.
I have been wondering if Robert and Roy were brothers, cousins, or was Roy an uncle to Robert, or related in some other way?
On a whim, I looked on Find A Grave and found information about Roy P. Gruwell, that was placed on the site by you.
Do you have any information at all relative to Robert or Roy, but especially Robert. I hope to have his story placed on the USAHEC web site in the near future.
I have found Robert's story very compelling as an example of a soldier who died for his country, but his grave is lost to history. Surviving members of his unit, the 517th PIR have not forgotten him, www.517prct.org.
I know this is a long winded message but I wanted to explain the information as thoroughly as possible.
Thank you in advance,
If you wish to speak by phone, please let me know and I will send you my number.
Glad to help!

|Tricia||A birth date needs changed|
Sarah, thank you so much for all you do!!! I have another photo of John Magnuson, son of John and Emma, and it shows clearly the birth year of 1900 instead of 1901. With the grass on your photo, it sure looks like 1901!
It would be great to have that date changed to reflect the birth year correctly.
Thanks so much!!
Great Falls, Cascade, Montana.
