Good day, Are you certain of Dorothy's burial? Greenview isn't in Moline and they do not have a record of her being there. Mark

Wilson S. Sherman
Thank you very much for providing all that information on Wilson Sherman. I have found that most of the people living at the Masonic Home in Charlton, MA and buried in the Masonic section of Westridge Cemetery are not from central MA. This makes it difficult to track down their life history. Thank you for providing this for Mr. Sherman.

Regards,
Bob

THE POPLARS, one and a half miles north of Blendon, was one of the oldest
settlements in Nottoway County, then Amelia, and was the seat of the Jones
family. Major Richard Jones who lived here was the son of Richard Jones and
was of Welsh descent. According to tradition he was of the same family as
Peter Jones who opened a trading station with the Indians at Peter's Point,
which place was later called Petersburg. Major Jones was married three
times. His first wife was Mary Robertson, of Amelia. Dr. James Jones, of
Mountain Hall, was a son by this marriage.

His second wife was the widow Nicholson, nee Fletcher, a sister of
Captain James Fletcher of Somerset. There were two sons by this marriage,
Captain Richard Jones of Bellefonte and Nathan Jones. His third wife was
the widow Campbell of Blendon, nee Harris. There was one child, a daughter,
by this marriage, Elizabeth Harris Jones, who married Dr. George S. G.
Bacon. Many of the Jones and Campbell family are buried in the old burying
ground at The Poplars.

Cool, 3 of those have stones I found and 3 are on the other list and no stone found now. Good place to start poking around.

RE: Thanks for looking for John Nixon's grave
OK Bill, I hope Mr/Mrs Bates do a walk around this weekend and call to say they found John. After finding him in the history book I assume he is in the First Weybridge Hill cemetery so maybe if you go there will be a stone found. Did he have any other family names that might be near him? I have listed all I found and just added the few others that I did not find but were listed in the history book. If you see any connection in the list that might be a starting place to poke around. This is a stony/ledge area and a lot of what look like markers are actually ledge and lot of the old markers can't be read. Seems like he should pop his head up and say hi soon if we keep after him.

RE: Thanks for looking for John Nixon's grave
After getting home I have looked at some of the Weybridge History and it does show John Nixon JR 4/24/1813 age 55 in First Weybridge Cemetery. Maybe the land owner will have better luck. I believe I have all the stones I can read entered now. I did try checking the footstones today to make sure the initials matched the stone. There are still a lot of old stones I can't read. I am trying to find some info on the Nixon Farm

Buck Memorials, Old Chelsea Cemetery
Thank you for the offer to visit Old Chelsea cemetery again. I would love it, if it hasn't snowed yet. Some of the markers I am looking for include, Content Buck, possibly another Daniel Buck, Infant Buck, Londuis Buck, and Samuel Buck. I am not sure if there are any more or not, but I would love to see what you can come up with. These are all family members of mine. Thank you so much.

RE: Orestes Cleveland
no problem! really--a few minutes of my time and maybe we can get history corrected. Excellent thought about the Fairview confusion! my compliments! There is a lot of stuff out there (wikipedia, etc.) that all have the VT location. I'm excited to find out--keep me in the loop.
