Duplicate Memorial
Hi Roxanne,
Thank you for posting the Memorial of my great-great grandfather, John E. Brown at the Marysville Cemetary in Marion Co. Iowa. I'm embarrassed to say I made a duplicate some time back. I'm not sure how I missed seeing the one you created first, but I was pretty new at this. I'm not sure if there is a way to merge the two? The memorial you created has the photo of his grave & the menorial I created has almost all his family links, etc (otherwise I would have simply deleted it). The # for the duplicate I mistakenly created is: 165235557.Thank you!

RE: Winchester Cemetery
Hello Roxanne,

Has your husband done a DNA test? It would be interesting to see if and how we are related.

This is a place he might want to join:

Let me know what you think.

William Henry Shawk (Shaug)
Hello again Roxanne,
I received your notice from Find-A-Grave a couple months back on the grave of my 4 great grandfathers, William Henry Shawk (Shaug), that update information I sent you on him was declined as it conflicted with your research. I wanted to send you a quick update that I recently found the probate/will record of his mother Susanna Stoy Shawk, wife of Dr. John Michael Shawk (Shaug)dated 1856 and executed upon her death in 1863 listing as heirs to the properties and monies she owned to her 3 sons, and one daughter. The daughter was Caroline Shawk Woodruff, and the 3 sons were John Michael Shawk, Jr, Charles Stoy Shawk, and William Henry Shawk (all of whom were doctors). This documentation proves that the William Henry Shawk who is buried in Iowa is the same man who was the son of John Michael and Susanna Shawk (they are buried in Fairfield Ohio, gravesites pictured on F-A-G). It is worth mentioning also that on William Henry's gravestone is marked D.D for Doctor of Dentistry, a profession that was also followed by one of his grandsons I recently found out. I also recently finally found the F-A-G registry on his wife, Hannah Sherwood Shaug (she was a descendant of William Bradford of the Mayflower) who died in Livermore, CA in 1878, and who had been incorrectly listed as Hannah S. Haug. I can send you copies of all this new paperwork for your review if you would like (I also have all of the National Archives records for his service as ensign "surgeon" in the War of 1812 from Ohio I can send you). Please let me know, I can mail them to you. My e-mail address is I hope this new information will help in amending the F-A-G listing you have with correct information as needed. Thanks so much Roxanne for your time and assistance on this, I really appreciate, and I hope to hear from you again.

Best Regards,

Mike Shaug 9-27-16

Jane (Kenney) Davison
In the South Plain Grove Cemetery (Old Section, Row 12, Grave 5), Plain Grove Twp., Lawrence County is the grave of Jane (Kenney) Davison (1780-1845) (Memorial# 112110186). I contacted the memorial's creator, Douglas Melcher to inquire as to where he got Jane's maiden name. He said that you provided it.
I have reason to believe she was the daughter of James Kennedy of Huntingdon County. Can you give me the source from which you got her name as Kenney? Thanks.
