I was born and raised in Atlanta, but have lived most of my adulthood in Charlotte, North Carolina. Coincidentally I ended up right where my roots are on my father's side of the family. Genealogy is my passion and I never met a cemetery I didn't like. I'm also into historic preservation, both of buildings and the lives of people no longer with us.|
As the daughter of a general and great-granddaughter of 3 Confederate veterans, I like to note military records of veterans on their findagrave memorials.
I welcome corrections/additions, but will no longer link to a "burial unknown" person. I have found this leads to duplicates.
FAMILIES ON MY FATHER'S SIDE: Irwin, DeWeese, Blackwelder, Babcock, Taylor, Wilbon.
FAMILIES ON MY MOTHER'S SIDE: Bryan, Battle, Pope, Atkinson, Yarbrough, Chappell.

What a nice surprise to receive the F-A-G notice that you had fulfilled my request for Doris' grave marker photo. Thanks so much for taking your time to find her grave and take the beautiful photos.
Thanks for all the volunteer hard work (or perhaps I should say "labor of love") that you do on F-A-G. Wishing you continued good health so you can keep doing what you enjoy for this website/program.

Susan, thank you so very very much for the picture of my sister's plot in Sharon Memorial Park. As I do not drive that far anymore, it means so much to me to be able to visit with her on this wonderful site and that it was you once again to help me with this. I truly appreciate the work you do and your sincerity and love for it and Carolyn did too as I showed her the site in 2015 and enjoyed sharing our Parents' update that you did for us as well....
sincerely, Judy Moser Latham
|Joseph StCloud Irwin||Susan Irwin Grills|
I did not know your father but as a retired
Navy Senior Chief in the SeaBees, I would be
honored to think we might be connected as
"IRWIN's" I was a "late" child with very few
living kinfolks and little known family history.
30 years ago I started with a Kansas City obit
of my g grandfather, Joseph Chambers Irwin, and
was hooked on genealogy. It was then I wished
I had asked my folks more about what they knew
from their past. Three years ago I discovered
Find A Grave and have been able to fill in several blanks
in the "Irwin Tree". What is really neat in this
quest is if you go back five generations, there
are 64 names in the tree, but only one is Irwin.
There are 63 other family names some known most
new and unknown. Bottom Line,I am proud to know
some history of your father and rest assured ,
we are related if you go back far enough. We
might even be cousins.-------joseph

|Norma Franssen||Headstone picture|
Hi Susan, my name is Norma Jean Alexander Franssen. I go by Norma Franssen. I was trying to find a picture of my brothers headstone and there's not one. Hoping that you could help with getting one. He is at Sunset Memory Gardens. I saw that you were the one who did my parent's picture. His name is Lafayette Morrison Alexander Jr. His parents preceded him in death are Lafayette Sr. and Julia Viola Gladden Alexander. He had no children. All of his siblings are still living. I can give you their names if you would like to list them. You can email me at Juliav2328@att.net. Thank you, Norma Franssen
I am sending you a handmade award -
THE MOUNT ZION Mixup Award is awarded to Susan Grillis for her dedication on photographing, correcting, and researching those burials at Mount Zion Community / Methodist Cemeteries.
I know how hard you had to work on these and I was so happy every time I saw an edit or a photo. So glad for all you did so I made you an award! :-)
