Bio and Links
Bio Photo Family history exploration for me begins with Ottawa Co, Kansas, but of course led across the country. An inheritor of several generations of newspaper clippings, I started transcribing obits from microfilm beginning at the 1879 start of the paper and realized the value of reading them all in understanding my family's history in the region. A sort of 'community-based genealogy' habit grew and expanded, as did an interest in cemetery preservation and recording.

Living now in a rural Kentucky county, our local history goal is to locate the old family cemeteries up in the hills, photograph and record. Most are hidden and overgrown; some remarkably well looked after by landowners whether related or not. And several are out there yet to be found...

Am happy to transfer your relatives and happy to help in the hunt for them.

RE: James and Jane McBrayer
No rush!

I have been doing some more digging, and I think I figured it out. I am kind of thinking this is a weird case where son, being named in honor of his father, share the same name, and happened to both marry a lady of the same given name. If that thinking is right, these graves would be Junior and his wife.

Wilson Cemetery
I am descended from the Wilson family buried in this cemetery. I am curious to know where this cemetery is located. I understand it's attached to the old Wilson Farm, and that it's on Graftenburg Road? I would love to know where it is.

Thank you
Shelley

James and Jane McBrayer
Hi Kate

I stumbled over your entries for James and Jane McBrayer, and was stunned to find "Montgomery" as Jane's maiden name. I am deeply curious, however: if Jane's death is 1796 according to the headstone, that would make her about 126 years old. I have her birth marked as 1680 in Killyleagh, Down, Ireland. She married James Knot McBrayer in 1696, in Ireland. So either that date is incorrect, or this is not actually Jane Montgomery McBrayer. I would love to find out more.

I am descended from the McBrayers that moved from PA to NC and then to GA.

Hi Kate.. I sent you a name update for S. W. Royalty..He was known as S. W. in most every paper trail left behind but his full name was Squire William. I thought if that full name was added to the bio section it would help potential genealogy people know his entire name. I think it would be best to leave his initials as the name and place the full name in the bio section. What do you think ? I always want to do what is easiest for the searcher..

Thanks !! Leslie
