I manage~~not own~~the memorials I place on FindaGrave. Please use the SAC (edit feature) when asking for changes. This prevents mistakes because the edit feature connects me to the right memorial. Please read this ★ ☆ ★ FAQs ★ ☆ ★ before you intentionally make a duplicate of a memorial (which is a no no): I do transfer out of guidelines a lot if I feel you will maintain the memorial you request better than I can ~ which means a beloved aunt, cousin, best friend, etc. (Just don't ask for a whole cemetery or a whole list of the same name especially if you happened to find this site and have been a member for a few days). Stick around for awhile - contribute. Although a great place for genealogy this is a GRAVES REGISTRATION SITE!

Permission has been given to GenealogyTrails.com to use my photos for their excellent site.
YES - you have permission to use the photos I took for your personal family files. I would appreciate it if you cited where you found the photo and if possible link back to FindAGrave.com.
However unless you are a nonprofit organization, this is not to be copied & pasted on a commercial site or used for commercial publication without permission.

I love to have additional information to add to the memorials. In winter I go through what I have put up and link families, find additional dates, etc. Although it looks like I have more than I can handle, I have had no problem adding suggested information. I have 35 years of experience in family history research and will be happy to add links or more biographical information on your family.

If you are requesting a photo - all information is helpful. Many people only have flat to the ground memorials, and they are difficult to find. If you know of other family names that might be close by, that is very helpful in large cemeteries. Also if your memorial served in the military, that is very helpful as most cemeteries commemorate with a flag.

I love the challenge of photographing really old stones. I also love the zincs - which were an inexpensive product for the time but have outlasted some of the more expensive marbles and granites. The zincs were very popular during the Prohibition Era because the insides were hollow and easily accessible.

The people we ~meet~ in these resting places are integral in putting together family history. The memorial may be all that is left.

Thank you to all the volunteers who have added photos to my memorials, taken the time to send me information, added their own memorials, found a dupe or two, and have been kind and respectful.

It is so important that if you have an old cemetery near you, to get these stones recorded before weather and/or vandals get to them.
★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★★ ☆
I do try to wipe off debris and pull some overgrown grass out of the way, but I will not harm the stone in any way. Plus I do not pull up flowers, even if they are wilted.
It's a bit of work to take the photos, re size and sometimes enhance the lettering to be made readable, enter names and upload the photos. I do this lovingly. Please respect that.
★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★
I have a camera that takes good photos, however the condition of the stone may make it unreadable or the stone is so damaged that there is no information. Bright sunny days might be good for walks but can wash out headstone inscriptions. I do retakes a lot.

Abby Nylen
I was led to believe that the person remembered by Memorial# 134949010 was actually Abigail known by the nickname Abby but have been informed by a closer relative that Abby was her legal name. I submitted another name edit to reflect hit correction. Sorry for the "makework."

Charles Catlin
Hi,
Thanks for your work!
Unless there are two Charles Catlins who was born on the same day and died on the same day in NO and are burried in Litchfield, Ct, then the place of birth might be incorrect. I think the memorial is for Charles H Catlin whose parents never seemed to leave Harwinton, Litchfield, Ct. He was married to Anna B Churchill from Milford, Ct at Wolcottville, Litchfield and as far as i can tell, stayed in Litchfield, Ct. Also,m he was in the Ct Regiment.

I do not want to manage this memorial but thought you might want to make a correction.

Hi,

I usually transfer memorials to folks who have gone to the trouble of taking and posting photos (thank you!). However, I note that you are already managing a lot of memorials, and may feel like you don't want to manage more. But if you'd like this one, please let me know --I'm happy to transfer it.

Anna Behrendt Langdon
Anna is my great grandmother, married to Ferdinand C. Behrendt and the mother of my grandfather, William Carl Behrendt and grand uncle Irving L. Behrendt. She married 2 Charles Langdon (as far as I can tell) She is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Southington, Connecticut, with folks whose names I do not know. Do you have any information on why she is buried with these folks? Her Find A Grave is 85159964.
Thanks for any help that you can offer. Nancy (Petty) Noyes

Thank You For The Transfer
C Greer--It takes diligent and persistent cemetery walkers to allow so many graves of ancestors/relatives to be discovered. There are so many relations that scatter across the country, continent, and the world, that were it not for the pictures archived here, we would never have a picture or knowledge where they are all buried. I "THANK YOU"
