Bio and Links
Bio Photo If you see errors or changes necessary to an entry, or you want a memorial transferred please use the edit tab on the memorial and send me the information. I will gladly answer any and all inquiries.
Please, if you want an entire obit added, send a copy of it with source, but do not send me several typed written pages to add to memorial. I can no longer physically do it.
I am interested in family names Godwin, Heubner, Reynolds, Wittenmyer and Buckles from south and west central Indiana and Kentucky.
If you find a relative (within Find-a-Grave guides) I will gladly transfer management of any of my entries. A family member should maintain these and enter additional information.

RE: Virgil T. Godwin
Greene, Sullivan, Vigo Counties and that area in IN are where my Godwins ended up after coming from Delaware. I'm sure there is a connection. Have you ever come across a Carrie Godwin b. abt 1834 in your research?

Hi David. This info came from Daddy's second wife... it is wrong but that's what the cemetery has! According to family notes from Aunt Bea, Dayy's mother's sister, Tom/Virgil was born Averjil Thomas Godwin 1-20-1920 he went by the name Thomas Virgil Godwin all of his life until shortly before he died and he married Eva, then he became Virgil Thomas Godwin. Thanks, Linda (his only child)

David, I have scanned some pictures I would like to share with you. We corresponded by email in 2010 but that yahoo email didn't work when I tried it today. Would you email me at momajane@bluemarble.net.
Thanks. Jane Reynolds.

RE: Mary Taylor Godwin
David,

Yes! We have the same relative. I believe Godwin had several wives and, if I remember correctly, my grandmother Mary Corn Taylor was his second one. Mary's parents were Jesse Corn and Agnes (have not verified her last name). She married Isaac Taylor 3 January 1856; she was his second wife. Isaac divorced his first wife. Mary and Isaac had two children: Samuel Cleveland Taylor born 11 August 1857 in Edwardsport IN (Knox Cty) and William Lewis born 9 December 1859 in Knox Cty. Isaac died in 1860 leaving Mary with two infants. I know of Isaac's death date only through the sale of farm land. I do not know why he died or where he was buried. I would love to find out and have worked on this question for a long time. I have more information if you are interested. In a history of Knox Cty I found a brief account of the Godwin family and some biographical info about William with the writer's name, a Godwin. However, when I wrote this person my letter was returned. I would love to know more about the family. So, thank you for contacting me and I would love to hear from you. I live in Illinois. Where are you?

Carol

RE: William A. Godwin
Thanks David for your quick response. I think I need to do more research. I have "Frank Godwin" married to "Sarah Huntington", Frank's father as "William Godwin", his mother "Martha." Therefore I am not sure about William's middle name nor Martha's. I probably jumped to conclusions too quickly when I saw a William A. Godwin and Martha A. Godwin. Thanks again for your time. I will be in touch after more research.

William A. Godwin
Hello David. My great, great grandfather was William A. Godwin. My great grandfather was Frank Godwin and my grandmother Rose Ann Godwin Armstrong. Do you know the maiden name of William's wife Martha A Godwin? Thanks much! Judith Armstrong Marion
