Bio Photo My name is Antonio. Born in my father's hometown of El Paso, Texas. My childhood was mostly in my stepfather's hometown of Truchas, NM. Later moved back to Mom's hometown of Espaņola, NM where I eventually graduated High School and then left to the Air Force. I've done some traveling, but home is Home. I began actively researching my genealogy around 2001, although it was always an interest since childhood. I've researched other family genealogies too. I frequent cemeteries looking for data. I appreciate the connection felt from seeing the final resting places of family members and connecting others to the same experience. I've come across unidentified graves due to time and erosion. So, in addition to identifiable graves, I've tried to include damaged graves with the slightest of information. I hope anyone with additional information for these graves would please share that information and save these graves from becoming lost graves. It's my ambition to try and preserve the identities of all graves I come across. On memorials I manage, I try to research what I can to not only preserve their identity, but their legacy as well. I also attempt genealogical connections when available, particularly in my own community area.

I have lots of family and friends in the Espaņola Valley, therefore I am in a position to adequately manage and update their memorials per findagrave's "ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it." I know a few contributors are ambitious with their stats, and that's fine. Grave documentation provides a useful service and I don't see a conflict with transfer requests if it honors findagrave's ultimate goal. I hope that is considered when I make transfer requests for non-family members. Sometimes, it facilitates my ongoing research and reduces my follow up process. Some contributors are wise enough to understand this, Thank You. I enjoy the collaboration process and often share updates I come across. There is only one contributor that I have had an adverse encounter with, and that's one too many. Please work with me, so that I don't feel reluctant about working with you. I'm not a collector, I'm a researcher.

My copyright protected photos are free for viewing and private personal use, but not for dissemenating. Any competent attorney will confirm that they do not fall under "Public Domain". If there is a use for my photo, it is courteous to at least request permission before hijacking and plagerizing the photo. Depending on the project, I may be and have been accomadating. But I absolutely decline permission for paid membership sites like ancestry.com. I don't believe in my photos being used to enhance other's profit potential. Thank you to all those who have extended me the courtesy of requesting permission.

I'm as fallable as the next person, so I do welcome any and all corrections and collaborations. I do endeavor to respect the wishes of survivors of the deceased. Basic communication generally resolves many issues. May all our lives be fulfilling before the grave finds us.

Hello and thank you
Antonio, thank you so much for all the work you have done in Find a Grave. I have found so much information about my family that would not be possible without you. You have been in all the northern NM cemeteries--Chimayo, Chamisal, Penasco that I have searched for information.

I am sorry that I have taken so long to extend my deep gratitude to you. I would love to have a conversation with you and learn more about what you have discovered along the way. I've learned a lot once I started digging and can't imagine what treasure troves of information you have!
God bless.

Memorial #1030841
This memorial for Celia Neuner contains a photo of her gravestone. The name on the stone is incorrect; her maiden name was Wooner, not Wonner.

Hello
I had some questions regarding a Salazar Line. We have spoken before. The siblings that are connected are Find A Grave Memorial# 101922583. It say this: "Pedro Antonio Salazar was the son of Pedro Juan Ygnacio Salazar y Valdez and Maria Andrea Cordova. Identified siblings were: Jose Serafino, Maria Juana de la Luz, Jose Agustin, Jose Patricio, Maria Cirilia, Rosalia, Feliciano, Jose Dolores, Pedro Antonio (I), Jose Eutimio, and Eliseo. Paternal grandparents were Antonio Jose Salazar and Maria Jacinta Trujillo"
Where did this info come from of the Paternal Grandparents?
Look forward to hearing from you.

Ada M. Mendenhall obituary
The memorial you created for her in 2012 is #91035887.

I believe this is the same person as in memorial #64401962 created May 24, 2006. The name on that memorial is Ada M. Toler.

The birth and death dates on both memorials are the same.

The tombstone for Ada M., Leeton R., and Dela Toler are the next tombstone to the south of the tombstone for Daniel Winon Mendenhall in Section NA, Row 31, of the Portales, NM, cemetery.

Manuel Felix Garduno
Dear truchasnm,

My apologies, but I need to bother you one last time. I have another soldier from Company B, 355th Infantry, 89th Division I discovered whose grave photograph was taken by you.

This one is for Manuel Felix Garduno (Findagrave Photo # 84644666).

Again, I'm not sure where I'm going with my project, but I want to eventually publish something. With your permission, I would like to use your photograph of the grave of Manual Felix Garduno as he served with my grandfather in WWI.

Thank you again, I appreciate your consideration.

With kind regards,

memorial #84694879
Hello Antonio, Great work and dedication. Thank you.
I do have a question and need a change made on the above memorial for Maria Pascuala "Pascualeta" Romero Lopez.
You say in the dialogue the names of the children for the marriage of Esquipula Tafoya and Pacaula. Where did you get this information? This is my husbands family and we do not recognize the name Anna Maria or Esquipula as being children of this couple. Candido Tafoya is the only one we are familiar with as reaching maturity and having children. We have heard rumors of a daughter that has been identified as Delphenia Tafoya but no information other than she died in 1918 of pneumonia from verbal accounts of the elders. She does not appear on any census.
You say in the dialogue the names of the children for the marriage of Nicodemos Lopez and Pascaula. We know of no child named Jose Arsenio Lopez as a member of this family. We know of no daughter named Delfina Romero as a member of this family.
I ask again for clarification... Where did you get your information? Perhaps there are records we have yet to find. My husband spent time with his grandparents Nicodemos and Pascaula until the age of 11 when she died. He would like clarification if there are documents to prove your information.
Thank you for your interest in the families of New Mexico. Please send your reply to vegaslopez@cox.net
