The life of a person is more than the dash between two dates. It is my hope that the memorials which I create or manage can make the individuals life fuller, even if just linking to family members or adding a few tidbits of information. Researching and including other family information makes them more than graves, they are people. Suggestions are welcome but please submit them using the edit button at the upper right corner of each memorial.|
Even when transcribing cemeteries I work hard to link other family members.
I live in the northwestern mountains of North Carolina and have work primarily in cemeteries there. A focus in the past was Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, North Carolina. There are 30,000 graves but only about 19,000+ documented. I've done more than 4,000 of those. Much of my family is buried there.
My current focus is a Jewish cemetery in Maryland and documenting a Concentration Camp in Germany. This will be a two year project.
I'm not about numbers. For seven years I cared for my elderly mother who had Alzheimer's. She wanted to go out but I could not trust a Mall or other public places, so we went to cemeteries where I took pictures. During the evenings, when I could not leave the house, I would upload the pictures to my computer and fill out spreadsheets. Since her passing two years ago I am not as active and have given a lot of time to upload my backlog of pictures, which I have reduced from over 4,000 to about 1,000. It's time consuming as I edit ever picture I upload. I am not related to most of my memorials.
PLEASE DO NOT POST DEATH CERTIFICATES ON MY MEMORIALS.
PLEASE DO NOT POST OBITUARY PICTURES, THEY ARE COPYRIGHTED.

My family can be traced back 46 generations to County Leichester, England. The family is English/Norman. They came to England with William after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The photo above is my ancestor, Sir Nicholas Purefoy, buried in The Church of St. Michael and all Angels in Fenny Drayton, Co. Leicestershire, England. The spelling of my name is the most rare of the three family groups: Purefoy, Purifoy and Peurifoy. The early Purefoys came to Jamestown, VA in 1621.
On my paternal side I am interested in the Peurifoy, Purifoy, Purefoy, Scott and Suther families.
For my maternal side are Statons, Stiller's,and Moores (from Stanly Co, NC).
My wife is from the Byrd and Carr families of Duplin County, NC.

The pictures of all the head stones on these memorials show once upright head stones now placed flat on their backs, but you think these are not the stones transferred from the private Newkirk cemetery that was destroyed? I am confused with what to do. FindaGrave.com has duplicate memorials for my relatives at two locations. Do you know how I contact someone at FindaGrave.com?
You have done an amazing job! It is obvious you have a passion for genealogy.
|Susan I. Grills||RE: Rutherford|
Wow. And it is amazing, from what I have placed there so far (many more to go) most are not ones that you have. I must have photographed a different area than you.
I looked into my files and it does appear that my Beth Shalom entries are actually Oheb Shalom.
I have amended my website. See my website: http://www.germanmarylanders.org/cemeteries/
I will remove all of those from Find A Grave that are in Beth Shalom.
Thanks for the 'heads up'. I appreciate it.

Thank you for all the history on Elizabeth, I had no knowledge of this family. It just makes me happy to help keep her memory alive.

There are two memorials at the Newkirk Cemetery that are not at the Oak Plain Cemetery.
Do you know when the headstones were moved from the Newkirk Cemetery to Oak Plain? How do we "correct" the duplication? I have contacted the manager of the Newkirk Cemetery, but I have not heard from him.
I live in Spalding County about three miles from Griffin. If you have any research in this area, let me know. I will be glad to help.
|Bill Powers||RE: Bettie Hall|
I have a strange situation with which you might be able to help. I have seven family members who were buried on family land in Duplin County. The cemetery has "disappeared" with no trace of markers. HOWEVER these seven have markers at Oak Plain Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The once standing markers are now laying down face up like maybe there were moved from one location to this location. Do you know who at the church I could check with to see if their graves are actually at Oak Plain or whether the marks were saved and brought in.

Thank you very much for letting me know about the situation.
|Chet Walker||RE: Gary McMillan|
Robert- He has been dealing with some major health issues. I do not think he is very active at all. Not sure if he responds to edits or not.
|Bridgett Wine||Adlee Walker Robinson|
The information you have for Adlee is wrong. She already has one with the correct information and links to her family members also. Thank you.
