Your tombstone stands among the rest;
In this field of green.
The name and date are chiseled out
For all the world to see.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I'd exist,
You died long before I was born.
Yet we are of one, you and I,
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the life you lived
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

Just wanted to thank you for all the volunteer work you have done on find-a-grave. You will find several "edits" for Matilda Buys which I am sending via find-a-grave. My great grandmother was in the Buys family and I loved your poem on your "bio" - I feel a part of each of these family members that I have researched.

I tried to send you an edit thru the edit tab but it wouldn't go thru. This one appears to be a duplicate of an earlier memorial you created.

This was so easy to miss if I hadn't been looking just right! Apparently it was hidden right smack in the middle of these two giant juniper bushes. It looks like the roots have caused the marker to lift some and lean to the right. I'm so glad I decided to go into those bushes or I might never have found them!

Thank you so much for taking time to send me this information. I never could find the name of the other child, nor the Chinese girl he adopted. I appreciate very much you letting me know about Joan Rodman. Thanks so much for your help I truly appreciate it.....
