|K. Meyer||Birth date & place of Margaret Nosler Ryan|
I am writing an article (for the Bunchgrass Historian) on Margaret's father James and the journals he wrote while living in the Colfax area. I am concerned that some of the information on her Find-A-Grave page is incorrect. It says - at the top - that she was born in Yakima County on Jan.1, 1871, and in her obituary it says that she was the first child born in Colfax, WA.
First, Colfax is not and never has been part of Yakima county. It was part of Stevens county in 1871, and soon after that it became the county seat of Whitman county, which was created out of Stevens. Second, the year of her birth is given as 1871. I have just finished reading the journals of her father, which very clearly state that she was born in 1873. The Noslers did not even arrive in the Colfax area until September of 1871, nine months AFTER she was supposedly born there.
I'm not sure why Margaret's family chose to create this fiction, but I would sure like to see some kind of comment or correction to the information on Find-A-Grave. She was most definitely NOT the first child born in Colfax.

Done. Let me know if you run across any information on his son-in-law and co-worker at the agency, Jesse R. Townsend.

Thanks for your note. I added the photos (I took a while back) to your memorial and deleted my memorial. Madelon sounds like a lovely and very special person. Happy Genealogy Trails to you.
Thank you for the information. I transferred this brave man over to you as he belongs with family.

I normally follow the rules of Find A Grave, and if you haven't read them you might. But since you have a photo for her, I will transfer.

If you could send me a Descendancy from Mary and Lyman some time, I would sure like to add it to my Minteer Master List spreadsheet.
