PLEASE use the Edit tab and Suggest a Correction link to add/correct information. I try to get to them within 24 hours of receipt.

I don't estimate birth years. The relatives of the dearly departed not only could get the date of death wrong on the monument but the age at death. Too many people take anything they find on the Internet as gospel, and I will not contribute to that bad habit.

PLEASE use the Edit tab and Suggest a Correction to request a transfer. Please include your relationship. I will not transfer out of guidelines. Please spare me the "I am the family genealogist" and the "I have tons of information to add" stories. Use the edit system. Too many people have requested out-of-guidelines transfers and then never added so much as a comma to the memorial. Requests for bulk transfers will be summarily ignored.

I WILL NOT link to a "burial unknown". This IS a grave registration site.

If I do not maintain the memorial, but add a picture, PLEASE check the photo caption for the inscription.

My love of old cemeteries is genetic from my dad. I try to take pictures of the fallen/damaged markers first as they might end up "behind the shed" or "over the wall" by the next time I get there.

Sources for additional memorial information include:

Hello, again!
I added a photo of Horace H. Packard to his memorial and added links to his parents. In the "small world" category, Horace's grandson was the husband of Carrie McCullough, my grandfather's younger sister.

I don't have another source for her age at death. I don't expect you to deviate from your policy because Eunice died at age 13. Thank you for considering the situation.

Samuel Davies and children
Thank you so much for locating the markers and adding the photos and information! We had looked for a marker but could not find it. We did not know about the children. The circumstances of all their deaths are so tragic. Samuel Davies is my gr-gr-grandfather.

I understand and respect your stand on unknown burials. Truly I hadn't thought of it in your perspective so you have enlightened me as it pertains to the function of Find A Grave. I do have a question for you. If one knows and can document that an ancestor was buried on the family farm or anywhere else that is not an actual cemetery, how does this situation get handled? So many of my ancestors were farmers and buried on the home property through decades. In the past, a few times, I have created memorials that read [for example] 'Smith Burying Ground' - and list the location and the fact that it is a private property. I assume this is acceptable as it is record of a burial but if not, do please let me know.

Thanks, again,

Sara

RE: Mary McCrillis Henry-Ellis #86306459
I am glad to see the link to Mary's 4th husband, Richard Ellis. I wish I could locate the burial for her 3rd husband John Henry but so far haven't been able to find him where he should be. Would it be appropriate to create a 'burial unknown' memorial for him? I would be happy to do this. He had a will dated 11 Sep 1754; proved 9 Sep 1755, probably in Colrain, Franklin, MA [I don't have a copy of it] but he should be buried there although search on Find A Grave did not list him in any cemetery that I could find.

I did edits this morning to connect all of Mary and John's children to her memorial: Andrew, Joseph, Martha and William. I noticed that I had inadvertently put William, their grandson, under the text listing their children. Correct info should be: [Lieut.] William Henry b abt 1734 Ir - 30 May 1811 [m Isabella Gilmore]. My link edit is correct but the text should be changed!

I have been unable to locate burial for their 5th child, Francis Henry, who married Tabitha unknown, but records indicate his death having been in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, Cheshire, NH.

It is very gratifying when full families can be entered on memorials. I thank you so much for your assistance in making this happen.

Sara

Thank you for your very timely response and for adding the information. I am somewhat embarrassed because I realized this morning, while continuing my work on the Henry genealogy that I had made an error in my information that I sent you when I ran across more data on Mary McCrillis. I hope it isn't too much trouble to make a few corrections on the memorial.

She was actually married 4 times! In 'The Early Settlers of Colrain, Mass. by Charles H. McClellan; 1885' lines out her history as follows: [Mary McCrellis] the wife of John Henry was a remarkable woman, and had a most remarkable career. In her early life in Ireland, she married [#1] unknown Foster, by whom she had one child, a daughter, whom she named Margaret. Being left a widow she then married [#2] unknown Workman, by whom she had a son, John. Again left a widow, she emigrated with her two children to America, where she married [#3] John Henry [his 2nd wife] and they had five children. After his death she became wife of [#4] Richard Ellis....she outlived her fourth husband, spending her last days with her son Andrew Henry, in Leyden, and died there May 11, 1802, in the ninety-seventh years of her age. Her son John Workman, married Phoebe Stewart.

I have listed as John and Mary's known children:
1. William Henry abt 1734-30 May 1811 [m Ann Brownson]
2. Martha Henry 1737-20 Nov 1818 [m John Harroun]
3. Joseph Henry 1748-26 Nov 1825 [m Margaret McCulloch]
4. Andrew Henry 1751- 28 Sep 1839 [m Thankful Norris] Find A Grave#
86327311
5. Francis Henry 1754-27 Feb 1841 [m Tabitha unknown]

I'm generally more careful but it was the end of long day of research and I obviously was tired and acted too quickly. My sincerest apology!

Sara
