|Bio and Links|
|My Grandmother always told me stories about our family and those who were our friends and neighbors. She had a story for every occasion, whether I needed a hug or a spanking. This led to my love of history, especially biographies. |
I learned how families and neighbors worked together to both enjoy life and make life easier for each other.
Of course, history is just another name for genealogy. In addition to the names, dates and places, I need to know how their lives were lived, their talents and dreams.
So far, most of the ones on Find A Grave that I have either added or manage are my family or close friends.
If there are any stories out there about the Stringer White family who migrated from Scotland, to Ireland, then to Manchester, England and finally sailing into NY, I would like to hear them. I am just as interested in the lives of my other surnames which include: Alexander, Brady/Braddy, Barnhill, Britt, Newby and Reeder.
On many of my memorials, I have tried to incorporate history into their biographies in order to give a better description of the person's life, their struggles and their accomplishments. If you find my biographies helpful, please let me know. If you use my biographies on this or any other site, please give me credit.
By working together, we can help our children remember their ancestors.
Thank you so much.

|Dan Short||Joseph Braddy|
I am the GGGrandson of James Braddy, Co H 18th Inf NC, Sept 1861-July 1862 (died Richmond Hospital) illness during Siege of Petersburg. In my research I have found some similarities between Joseph Braddy (1850 census) age 51, miller by trade and James Braddy, age 24, miller by trade. I wonder if James is the eldest child, Benjamin age 23, John age 17, Mary age 15, Alfred age 14, Margarett age 7. I note that Joseph's father, John is full blooded Cherokee and Mary petitioned from Washington to be noted as part Indian. James' photo indicates he is part some other race other than Caucasian. Do you have any info placing Joseph as James father?
James married Sarah "Sallie" McSwain. Children:
Rebecca 1849, Kiziah (my GGMother) born 1852 (married Calvin W. Short). My Grandfather, Plato Durham Short was the first born of this marriage in 1878. He married my Grandmother, Ellen Salena Hallman.

Hi, I was wondering if you could transfer the Joshua Sorrels page over to me? I am the oldest child of his sister, Tren, and I would love to add some personal details to the page. Thank you so much!

I'm happy to transfer her; she was someone special in your life.

Hi, Debbie: Actually, Find A Grave has made it possible for members to link relatives to memorials created by other members. Click on the edit tab in the top right corner of the memorial, then click on the relationship link and insert the number of the parent's or spouse's memorial in the appropriate and click on the submit button. So you can see how it works, I will encourage you to do this by inserting the Find A Grave link for Benjamin Paul into the Vernon Paul memorial. I will be notified of your suggestion and click on the accept button. In the meantime, I will enter some of the biographical material you suggested. Also know that I, or other Find A Grave members, will gladly transfer to you any family member's memorial that you would like to manage. All you have to do is ask.

I added this memorial from a cemetery book, so I have not seen the actual stone. Thanks, Janine

Thank you for noticing my error. I should have double checked it. By the way you wouldn't happen to have any info on his parents would you?

I have posted the picture.
