I have done extensive research and have catalogued the Matherne Cemetery and the adjacent Rogers Cemeteries in Bayou Blue, Louisiana, in Terrebonne Parish near the city of Houma. I try to keep my records up-to-date and to take photos of all graves with headstones. The current listings in Find A Grave for these cemeteries have some interments confused - some of those shown in the Matherne Cemetery listings are actually buried in one of the Rogers Cemeteries. There is actually no such thing as the Matherne-Rogers Cemetery, although people do sometimes refer to the whole complex as such in obituaries. |
I have also catalogued and taken photos of other cemeteries in my area, namely: Daigle Memorial - Presbyterian; New Hope-Grace Memorial; St. Louis Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleums; Magnolia Cemetery. I recently completed the Terrebonne Memorial Park and am presently cataloging and photographing the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Houma.
I also have many relatives buried in the
McDonoghville Cemetery (formerly called McDonogh Cemetery) in Gretna, LA. I have placed memorials on that site.

Hello Cousin French, so pleased to meet you! I knew your older brother, in part, because we cruised together (along with my parents - Pete/Virginia) on Royal Cruise Line to China (actually beginning in Japan and ending in Hong Kong), in 1986, for 21 days! Of course, before that, he was at my wedding, as well as my siblings. My parents went to visit them every March to play in a golf tourney, in fact, dad made it home just in time to meet his 1st grandchild (my daughter) on her 'birth day', after a fun when with the Brownlee's. The last time i saw him was Mar98, a few days before my dads death. He had traveled with Warren/BeeDee and Betty Jane Nolan to say goodbye. I believe Margarite had already passed.
Needless to say, I have lots of pictures of your older brother. It was great that my parents and your older sibling were able to enjoy so many retirement years together traveling/visiting.
Ironically, I have just returned from NOLA, after a six year absence. Our daughter was at Tulane from 2006 to graduating in 2010 - so spent alot of time with the Nolans during rebuilding early years. Our main purpose this time was to visit Warren and Beedee - both still 'kicking it' and doing well- into their 90's! Still reside at the same house they built in 1960 (well, they had to 'rebuild' it in 2006/07); Our hostess with the mostess - I call fairy Godmother, because she dressed me for the Rex Ball - and I was her guest, in 2009 - Nora Nolan Lambert, has been so kind to take us CA Nolans to Nolan and Brownlee gravesites, etc. Assuming u also knew Betty Jane Nolan, who died one month after Katrina, and it was Nora who took us CA 'orphans' under her wings at that time. She takes care of us when we visit. We r so blessed, and I'm also pleased to find another relative of dads. My mom was an only child, and so all relatives r Nolans and Brownlees!
Take care, if u r on facebook, friend me! That way u can keep in touch by email, especially if u r in our part of the woods, we would love to meet you, although, i'm certain i did when i was little!

Are you related to them? Bud was my dads (Ralph Peter Nolan Jr)1st cousin. Ruth Brownlee Nolan was my paternal grandmother; Ralph Sr my paternal grandfather. Thank you so much for the research and picture of the Nolan gravesite at Meterie Cemetary. Linda NolanLong

|Patti Elliott||your excellent work|
Uncle Dave, it's so nice that you have brought the history of our families to those of us who want to know more about it. I appreciate all the hard and good work you have done for so many families. I'm proud to have you as my uncle and I love you.

Thank you so much for the additional data added to memorials. Sometimes it takes the Find A Grave group to help out. Thanks Betty
