My name is Evelyn. I started researching my mothers' Pope Co., AR family after she died in 1990. I have met so many wonderfull people, talking with them over the phone and traveling to AR twice. Many of them remember my Mother "Geri" and it is so good to hear these stories as my mother died when she was 59. My tree has grown over the years and now it is time to become part of Findagrave and list all of her family and relatives in a virtual cemetery. I think I must be related to everyone in Pope Co. I have researched the Teague, Crites, Bradley, Virden, Bewley, Davis', Dixon, Dollar, Duvall, Gipson, Lay, Russell, Thompson names, and many, many more. I am proud of what I have done, only wish my mother was here to help me. She loved her roots with Atkins, Pope Co., AR. I hope she knows how much love and time has come from this. And I hope too that I am able to help others looking for their missing puzzle pieces.
I live in the central valley of Calif. I have been married to my husband for 40 years and we have 2 children. I have a married daughter but no grandchildren yet. Our son is single. My husband is a special person who doesn't mind the time I spend doing this as he knows how much I enjoy it. I love it, I am addicted. I just feel I need to find out all I can and as fast as I can. I know others feel the same way.

Memorial# 57156078 Note
Read your note. I've yet to find a legal document online regarding marriage & George Lee Ross & Minnie Lee Clemons Johnston. She moved in with him after his first wife of 50 years died in 1959. They may have been simply married by common-law. She lived with him until his death in 1973. Both had been married once before, him to Ella Gertrude Dickey and she to William M Johnston. Interestingly, I did find a SS# record of the death of a MINNIE ROSS in 1977. That makes me want to believe they DID follow through with a Justice of the Peace or marriage. Or it could have been assumptions or "sloppiness" made at that office that produced the record. I am a maternal grandson of George & Ella Dickey Ross.

Thompson Family, Pope Co. Arkansas
Hi, Evelyn! Who are your Thompsons in Pope County? My great grandfather's first wife was Amelia Hannah Thompson...her parents were Peter and Catherine. I eleven all three of them were from Louisiana. Amelia had 3 daughters (it may have been only 2, don't have my tree up) who went to live with Peter and Catherine after my g grandfather married his third wife. I'm trying to track down the girls and their families.

RE: Lavern and Wayne
I had read that you were related through my grandpa Roy and my granny Laverne. I was just wondering how, as I know all my cousins....just been doing research and was wondering how we were related. I live in Texas. Me and my husband moved here from Farmersville in 93.

How are you related exactly to my granny and grandpa? Laverne (what she went by) is my dad's (Roger, who goes by Wayne) mother.
