Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi,
I was born in Grapeland, Houston County, Texas, parents, Walter Mayo Yates & Ora D. Clark Yates. I'm married, we have five grown children. I guess you would say I am the family genealogist for our family since 2004. Find A grave is a wonderful website. Family history is very important to me.
I hope I add something that will be of interest to others. Our family names include:Yates/Owens/
Denson/Clark/Parker/Chaffin/Williams/Steadman/Overstreet and many more.

For "PHOTOS" that I have added to my memorials, if you copy them, I would like to receive the CREDIT for them - Thanks, Martha Yates Vandver

Robert Gee puzzle
Martha, as we discussed, the picture is correct and the marker is for Robert Thomas Gee, not Robert Thompson Gee. My incorrect assumption. I am working on setting up a separate Tree for Sarah Rebecca Brooks. Thanks for your help. Linda

RE: William F. Parker
M Yates, I sent you an earlier reply, perhaps you didn't receive it. I am trying to trace a William F. Parker, Born in Illinois between 1834 and 1837. He is my ancester, I can get only so far with my research but Family History/Legend (which are sometimes wrong I know) has us related to Cynthia Ann Parker. I started following this action when I read a written account in a diary about a young lady being tired of always being asked why Cynthia Ann wanted to go back to the indians. I started With Cynthia Ann and just kept going until I turned up a William of approximately the right age. Now I am trying to connect him to my William.
Do you know anything about Benjamin Parker Jr.'s son William and his life in Illinois? If it is the right William, I can tell you what happened to him. Sherry Myers

RE: William F. Parker
I may, I am trying to determine if my William Parker is your William Parker. Do you know anything about his marriages or where he may have gone from Coles County, Illinois? I have a William F. Parker that I have information on in Illinois, IN and TX. Would like to determine if it is one and the same William Parker. My tree has relationship (distant) to Cynthia Ann Parker as part of family legend. Sherry

His wife Maxine was a third cousin of my paternal grandmother. I have not found them in the 1940 census, as it seems I should be able to, so perhaps you can tell me when they married and if they had any children. Thanks!

Family information on Riley Barber King
Dear Mrs. Yates, I am married to a descendant of Thomas Wells who married to Samantha Jane King. In the narrative that was added to Mr. King, it states that Riley King Sr. died in 1902 and Theresa died in 1916.

Riley King's marker states that he died in 1896 and Theresa's says she died in 1915.

Could you please clarify, or have I got the wrong people?

Thank you so much for providing the information on the family. I love it!!

Joseph Warren "Joe" Hart, Sr.
Hello! I am a great great granddaughter of Joseph (Memorial 164028908). I was thrilled to see a memorial for him. A group of Harts have been searching for Eli Hart (Joseph Sr.'s father) for a very long time. Would it be possible to learn from you any information you have or the source of your information regarding Eli Hart (married to Talitha Cumi Stow)? Thank you so much for creating the memorial for him. Marly

RE: Major Alexander Yates - 28174223
Very good and thank you. Several things of interest perhaps.
I added a personal note.
I have a lot of stuff on him and his brother and family to add to find a grave.
As you know he has a Cenotapp or Memorial Stone in the Utica, Hinds County, Cemetery, about 30 miles Southeastward. Several other members of the family buried there also.
Do you know anything about him being a graduate of the University of Indiana?????
And do you know anything about where he is buried??

Major Alexander Yates - 28174223
Dear M Yates; I am trying to do my part to sraighten out some of the confusion concerning the Confederate Hero's that died at Vicksburg. And yes, there is much confusion.
I am trying to straighten out Major Yates.
First. Can you give me the wording on the Plaque at Vicksburg?
