Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started looking on the internet for my
GG-grandfather James Eagle.
He was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian and
I believe he was born in Hancock County,Tennessee. He married my GG-grandmother Nancy Johnson. James was married to Cora Grubb and had one son named Clarence before marrying Nancy. He later divorced Cora for unknown reasons. After his marriage to Nancy Johnson they had three girls: Ethel,Corie, and Dovey. Dovey died a few days after birth.
Ethel Eagle is my Great-Grandmother.
She married Lee Williams when she was around 14 years old and over many years they had six children:Mary LouTrena,Velve Lee,James"Olen",
Ruby Mae,Carl Everett, and Earl Odie Williams.
After GG-granfather James Eagle died,
Nancy married Sam Williams(her daughter Ethel's husband's brother)and they had a son named
Elmer Williams. *James,Nancy,Ethel,Lee and their children lived in Sneedville,Tennessee in a place that everyone calls "Snake Hollow".
Eventually, they all moved to Tazewell,Tennessee several miles away.

My great-aunt Mary Williams told me that she thinks that James Eagle and his daughter Dovey are buried somewhere in Rutledge,Tennessee.
James Eagle's sister Nancy married ___Stapleton and they had one son that I know of.
The Eagle & Stapleton farms connected somewhere in Big Sycamore. There is a graveyard near a church that may be where they're buried.
The Eagles had a grist mill so a creek would have ran through their property. (Still searching for the old family land.)
Some of the other relatives are buried in the Gollihon Cemetery in Sneedville,Tennessee.

If anyone has heard of James "JIM" Eagle please let me know. Thanks to all that offer their help.

I'm researching the Poplin family (my gg-grandfather would have been William Poplin - who married Louisa Bishop in Meigs County, TN. I'm trying to find proof that Eliza Ann Bishop and Louisa Bishop are the same person. Do you know "who" Louisa's parent were? Also, was she Cherokee? Did she die in 1861? Thanks for any insight. Kyle Davidson-my great uncle
My grandpa Chester Davidson was Kyle's brother. Charlie & Laura Davidson had 11 children-8 boys & 3 girls: Frank, John, Lee, Lucy, Joe, Ben, Lester, Chester, Kyle, Bessie, & Edith, with my grandpa Chester being the 7th son. I remember as a kid in the early 70's going to Uncle Kyle's with my dad, William C. "Bill" Davidson & grandpa to visit at Kyle's with mine & dad's cousins -Leon & Leonard. Are you or anyone else familiar with any of these people? I also spent a great deal of time at my aunt Bessie (Davidson) Reece's(Buster)

RE: Just A Note

Thank you so much for your message. That was so thoughtful of you and I appreciate any and all advice concerning researching family history.

My Aunt actually lives in the house that my great grandparents bought and I finally nagged at her enough that she started going through old boxes. We were able to find some paperwork that gave us a bit of information and because of it, I was able to find her father who is also on FindAGrave so I am slowly moving forward!!!

Thanks again! I need all the help I can get! HaHa

Not Forgotten
Nursissa Parks Bolton
Hello Heather,
I have transferred the Nurissa Bolton memorial, though she is related to me also, due to the fact that you say you have stories and photos to add. I assume you are very familiar therefore with the Bolton line.

As for the Parks transfers, Jacob was the brother of my great-grandfather and I have spent lots of time gathering the information, including listening to stories from my grandmother years ago about the Parks. If you have anything to add to the Parks memorials, such as photos or stories, feel free to send them to me. I will add anything you like/have.

(Of course you can add your photos need to "own" the memorial for that)

Best wishes,
