Gladys Helen Smith Coffman
Devin,
Please read the messages from me in your F.A.G. messages.....explaining how I am related. Messages right below this one. Your Gladys was my mother's first cousin, so she would have been my second cousin. I never got to meet her and would haved liked to very much, but mother talked about her lots. The last visit they all had was when Gladys and two of her daughters drove down to visit mother (Camille , Adele & Evelyn--Gladys's 1st cousins) was in the 1990s I believe. They drove down from Kansas to Mooringsport, Louisiana. Gladys was their favorite Smith cousin. She and mother wrote back and forth for years. Grandfather Marion and Grandmother Susan Smith( Monosmith) lived in Caddo Parish for about 10 years. The children came, Gladys' father Frank too, and all of the children went back to Kansas including Marion & Susan, except my grandfather, Bonona Adelbert Smith. He married my grandmother and remained Louisiana. He passed away in 1921 when my mother was about 12 years of age. He died before his father, Marion. All of them are on FindAGrave. Please look. I want to link Gladys with her father and mother on F.A.G. ...but her memorial owner never replies...Guess I will have to write to FindAGrave...It was resquested by me many times over the last 2 years. I had to write to them to get all the children of Marion and Susan linked in the Kechi Cemetery. Will see what pictures I posted of Cousin Gladys on Find A Grave and try sending you the ones I have.
I am so delighted to hear from you and get your new e-mail address. Hoping you still have all the old letter from Susan's truck. Aunt Edith and Retta saved them and then they went to your gg grandmother, Gladys. Right? And then to you.
Cousin,
Alice

Papers of Marion and Susan Smith (Monosmith )
Hi Devin,
Are you one of the g grandchildren of Gladys Smith Coleman ? My mother, Camille Smith Steiner, was her 1st cousin. Susan Ann Smith kept all their letters and papers in an old trunk, and I was told and that they were well perserved. I hope you have them. Gladys once sent mother a letter that my grandmother had written to Susan A. Smith in 1909, which helped mother to get her delayed birth cert. in Loisiana. Gladys was a farorite cousin of mother and her sisters. I would love to hear from you. I have a cute snapshot of Carolyn Sue and Roberta Ann....when they were little girls....Mother wrote Gladys in Kansas, especially when they were young. B.A. Smith, son of Marion and Susan, stayed in LA after marrying my grandmother, Alice Compton Smith.
Please let me hear from you and email me a_plp@netzero.net
Thanks! I just saw your name with Marion's memroial on F.A.G.
Alice
I have tried to link Marion and Susan with all their children but have had problems getting my edits done in the Kechi Cem. Most of their children and spouses were buried there.
