I'm particulary interested to hear from anyone with a connection to the memorials I've created. Please feel free to contact me. We might learn something from one another.|

|Bev Weddell||RE: Linked|
Thanks, this is my husband's family and I never got around to connecting everyone--there are a lot of Weddell!
|Bev Weddell||RE: Gabriel Weddell|
Yes, I researched him year ago. He is supposedly buried in a cemetery that is under a lake. He has a site, now.

Came upon your memorial of the Weddles that came thought Brown County, Indiana. My husband is descended from the Jackson County, Indian line of David Ervin Weddell to Gabriel Lord Weddell, to Willis Webster Weddel to David E. Weddell to Hubert H. Weddell to him H. D. Weddell. Part of his line is in The Weddle Book by E. Mueting. Back in the 1980s, we met the Patton family of Nebraska who was descended from Andrew and James R. Weddle. One of the Mueting books has been placed in the local genealogy library at JCHC.
Nice to have the information on Find A Grave if it is correct. Thanks!
I am the 3great granddaughter of Rev. David D Weddle. His son, Thomas Owen Weddle was my 2great grandfather. Thomas' daugher, Nellie was my grandmother.
Nice page you have on him.

Because researchers are now citing F.A.G., it's critical not to guess; it's difficult (beyond that, really) to undo widely disseminated erroneous information. My opinion is that the memorial for Sherman Weddle is for the son of Charles E. Weddell. BUT, I have no source to back that up; my opinion is based on his grave being at the right place/right time. I also think that it is his sister Lillian who is buried with him, and I believe that for the same reason (I haven't found evidence to support that this person was his wife, and it's not uncommon for siblings to have their names on the same headstone).
|Whimsters||RE: Jack 140279188 & Orville|
No, Jack Clem Weddell is not in my family line; the West Virginia birth index has his parents as Charles & Effie.
I had seen the memorial some time ago for Orville Weddell (1921-1980) who's buried at the Arizona prison cemetery. I haven't been able to determine if he's the Orville who was the son of Charles Edward Weddell and Lillian Frances Barclay. At ancestry.com there's an image of a San Quentin, Calif. prison record from 1945 that includes the name of "Orval E. Weddell", born at Oklahoma, served in the Army. May be the same person. However, if you search for variations on that name, you'll find several people, so more information is needed to make a determination.
|Whimsters||Sherman Willie Weddle|
I see that you've also put in an edit requeset for the memorial for Sherman WEDDLE at Kellerby Cemetery in Arlington, Lincoln Cnty, Oklahoma. Is that to connect him as a son of Charles Edward Weddle and Lillie Frances Barclay? That's who I think he is.
However, I don't think the other name on the headstone ("Lillian") is his wife; it may be his younger sister. My research concludes that Sherman married Martha H. Simpson and they had three children: Ralph, Willie Omer and Lorraine.
I've tried three times to get a death certificate for Sherman from Oklahoma, but each time I've gotten a "not found" response.
|Whimsters||RE: Charles Luther Weddell|
Yes, I am 99% certain that the memorial for Charles L. "Curly" Weddell is for Charles Luther Weddell, son of Charles Edward and Lillie Frances (Barclay). I've been debating for a while if I want to spend $21 to order Charles L. Weddell's death certificate from California, but it's unlikely to tell me more than the California Death Index does (at Ancestry.com). His mother's maiden name was transcribed on that index as "Barkley". That's a spelling I often see for the family.
My husband and I just visited the Weddle's graves in and near Yakima, Wa yesterday... we had gone last spring but didn't realize the Old Pioneer Cemetery one was right across the road from where we turned around!
I am from John Weddle and Mary Wallen,Walling. So happy to 'meet' other Weddle shirt-tail cousins.
There is the book on Weddles... You should call your nearest Mormon church and ask if they have a library. If so, they will be able to help you download (you need to go in person with a thumb drive) for FREE! I was fortunate to get mine in person from the Salt Lake City Mormon library while doing family research. It's a wealth of info. Written by Elizabeth Mueting. Says we started in Scotland as Waddle's (which I found here in the US as well). I was in Glasgow Scotland last summer and actually met a gentleman who's x-girlfriend was a Waddle and yes, he knew about our change to Weddle. :-) If I can help any of you on your Weddle book search or what info I have, please contact me firstname.lastname@example.org
