Correction to a message I just left you. Someone else manages Frank's memorial.

Josiah Coon and Joe "Coon" Moore
Greg, You manage the memorials for both of these men who both died in 1907 and are buried in Oaklawn Cemetery in Tulsa. I am the great granddaughter or Josiah Coon who also went by the name Joseph Coon. But my grandmother was known by two different last names, Coon and Moore. So I'm wondering if these two memorials are really the same person. We have never been able to figure our where the MOORE name came from. Also, on Joe Moore's memorial you mentioned that he had 3 children and his wife's maiden name was King. Well, my great grandmother, Josiah's wife, was previously married to a KING and the three of the children that are in Josiah's will as Coon all went by the name of MOORE after Josiah's death. You mention both last names on both memorials and so I wonder what your source is. Please help me solve this family mystery.

You also manage the memorial for Frank Francis Coon in the same cemetery. He is my great uncle, Josiah's son. He continued to be known as Coon his entire life. He had no wife or children.

James Knot Meyler
Thank you for locating James'grave. James was the youngest member of that broken family. (I have do indication of when his father died or where he is buried>) James was a nephew of my GG Grandmother. The 1850 & 1860 US Census are the best estimates of his birth year and his widow applied for her Civil War pension on 6 October 1921. Does Oklahoma have death certificates? Does the local Library, Historical or Genealogical Society have an Obit file?

Thank you, Bob Todd in Manassas, VA

Catherine Henry Amalong
I am a direct descendant of Christopher and Catherine Amalong. She was the daughter of Henry Henry and Lavina Smith Henry. They are buried in Congruity Cemetery in Westmoreland, PA.
They did indeed live in Skiatook, Oklahoma.
Catherine was born Oct 1850 in Greensberg, PA. She died 26 Jun 1932.
You say this is unmarked grave. Can you tell me is it next to Christopher Amalong? I just don't understand why she is in an unmarked grave.
Thank you for all your help.

I did not know Alice but I came across this memorial while searching for her son John Jr.

I had read a book ( deadly hero) about a crime in Tulsa in 1934 which got me to wondering where he was buried ( I haven't finished the book so it may be mentioned) it seems John Jr was the victim of a murder. Sadly I found out that Edith did not live a long life either. My heart hurts for what these parents went through. I cant imagine losing 2 children.

Josiah Moore? Coon
I am his great granddaughter. My grandmother was Elizabeth Nolen whose husband Leonard Nolen owned his burial plot. The son on the memorial, Frank Francis Coon was known to me as Uncle Frank, Elizabeth's brother. We never questioned why they had different last names but Elizabeth always said, "don't call me a Coon". Just wondered how you happened to put Moore? in the memorial.
Both Leonard and Elizabeth grew up in the Sand Springs Home and supposedly she never knew who her parents were. But my cousin had a clue from a family bible and researched cemetery records in the Tulsa area and found that our grandmother paid for the burial of both her parents. Lucinda is buried in the Nolen family plot in Sand Springs.

Greg I am not sure why you added a photo to my mother's memorial. The memorial was created by someone who didn't have permission. My mother just died last Thursday. Please remove your photo and if you are the creator of the memorial would you please remove it. Some of the information is incorrect and the family should have the right to place the memorial.
