Hi there! I create memorials to remember the dead and to help folks connect with the memories of loved ones. Final disposition is the last chapter of anyone's story, an important element of genealogy.|
TRANSFERS: Have I created a memorial that you'd like to manage? Let me know, I'm happy to transfer any pages except for my immediate family.
PHOTOS: Please feel free to use any photos that I've posted for your own genealogy research and family trees, etc. For commercial use please send me a release form. Thank you! :)
DUPLICATE PHOTOS: I've started using the bulk photo uploader for some cemeteries. It doesn't let you know if a memorial already has a photo. I try to only upload to memorials that need a photo. If I duplicate a marker that you want removed, please don't hesitate to ask.
In June 2014, I moved back to Michigan from California to be my Mom's primary caregiver; she was a stroke survivor who navigated the world of dementia with humor and dignity. While here I have been enjoying "Find A Graving" at nearby cemeteries in White Lake, Highland and Milford. My go to resource for researching older graves are the township cemetery transcripts published by the Oakland County Genealogical Society, invaluable field guides. Thank you OCGS!
I appreciate all the flowers people have left for my beloved Dad! Thank you! :) December 10, 2017 will be his 33rd Angel Day. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. He was a wonderful person and parent.
My beautiful mom, Tillie Burks, gained her angel wings on April 17, 2017. The grief is fresh, the love is forever. Miss you, Mom! xo
ABOUT MY INTEREST IN CEMETERIES: I've been drawn to cemeteries for as long as I can remember, having often played among the old tombstones at Oxbow Lakeside Cemetery while growing up in White Lake, Michigan.
When I moved to Los Angeles in 1988 I began exploring celebrity graves as a hobby and along the way have been just as moved by the neighboring "civilian" headstones that surround and outnumber them. I met like-minded grave hunters when The Hollywood Underground Yahoo group was formed in 1998.
I ran the GrandViewMemorialPark.info website from 2007-2015 in order to keep the public informed about the ongoing closure/lawsuit story happening there in Glendale, Calif. The cemetery is now under new ownership and I am focusing on chronicling its 100+ year history.
Volunteers still work on updating the Grand View FindAGrave page and fulfilling photo requests.
Adventures in Grave Hunting is my cemetery-related blog. I haven't updated it in a while but the archives of old stories go back several years. I have a huge backlog of interesting stories just waiting to be told when I have more free time.
My first contribution to Find A Grave was in August 2000, in honor of my grave hunting buddy Denis Svoboda.
I collect vintage photographs of grave markers and of people posing in cemeteries, wondering about the stories behind the snapshots. I like to match them with Find A Grave memorials that are already online, virtually reuniting loved ones whose pictures somehow ended up for sale here and there. See the evolving results here.
For my own "string on my finger" reference: Use a period after names where only an initial is known.

Want to extend my deepest condolences to you and your family for the loss of your beautiful mom, I'm so very sorry.
|Jim SIMPSON||RE: AYOTTE, Richard L.|
Ach, sorry. Yes, Richard's Ashes would be in one of the 3 or 4 Columbarium Walls (Not the Columbarim by the Office0 --- I had photographed it back in Jul 2013 after Richard's Ashes were inserted into the Wall and a Plaque attached with his name, but cannot find the photos at this time. Waiting for Camera Batteries to charge up. :)
I created Richard's Memorial at FindAGrave back in 2013. Don't know how I came up with the Section or Plot of "Section MS1 Site 216", unless I got it from a Memorial Card ?
OK, you've explained where YOUR photo came from. Thank you. And yes, very pleased if you can get the Columbarium photos as well ! No Hurry.
|Jim SIMPSON||RE: AYOTTE, Richard L.|
Hi again Lisa,
Your LINK Took me to the Wall (Niche) where Richard AYOTTE's "Ashes" are. Which is: Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
Section MS1 (abbrev. for Memorial Section 1), Site 216
However, your Photo is clearly from a Military Grave Stone, which appears to be in a "Field'. Is your Grave Stone photo from the SAME Grate lakes, HOLLY, CEMETERY ?
If so, Can you indicate where on this Map:
That YOUR Military Grave Stone is in ?
|Jim SIMPSON||AYOTTE, Richard L.|
You have Posed a photo of a Grave Marker for Richard l. AYOTTE to his Memorial Page
Can you tell me where this Grave Marker is ACTUALLY located, what Cemetery, where located, etc. ?
Thank you !
