Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing genealogy research for over 30 years and it's taught me so much more than just who my ancestors were. I've learned history, geography, population dynamics, how profoundly horrible the Civil War was (as all war is), how to read really bad handwriting, and most of all, patience. It's like being a detective and I love to solve puzzles. I am researching the surnames Olvey/Alvey/Olvy, Wheeler, Williams, Gray, Sale, McBride, Martin, Hicks, Armstrong, Swaim/Swim, Sturdivant, Brown, Sparks. If you spot my mistakes or want to add information on anyone, please let me know at my email address or leave a message.

I am not one who believes this web site is a numbers competion. If you transfer a memorial to a family member outside the confines of FAG's stated rules, it does not subtract that transfer from your total. And I firmly believe that the vast majority of contributors to this site, do so overwhelmingly to contribute genealogy information. I think the rules for transferring should be changed. If you are simply entering the information from daily obituaries to see how many memorials you can own, and you are not at all related to the deceased, why would you care if someone who is related-in any way-would want to care for that memorial? Why would you refuse them that desire? After all, what you are doing is a voluntary choice, so refusing because it's your time or gas or shoe leather or whatever, it's strictly your choice. And nowhere in the FAG rules does it say it's a competition.

Lillie M. Olvey
While working on Lillie M. Olvey family I discovered her on Find-A-Grave as Lillie M. Drummond Olvey. I have a copy of her marriage license which names her parents as Albert Jones and Mary Drummond. So, as I see it, her maiden name is Jones not Drummond. Would be happy to share the info on the marriage license if you want it.
Thanks much. Floydene Gillihan

Hi there,

In my research, I believe she is the daughter of Martha E. Willis and in the 1930 census she is the wife of Joseph G. Olvey and her mother is living with them. She should be linked to her husband and not shown as born an Ovley.

Is your Mom Ginger and her Mom Verna?
Hello, Sorry to bother you if I found the wrong person. I saw your name on Jack Allen's Memorial and wondered if you were the daughter of Ginger and the Granddaughter of Verna Leona (Cross) Askins? If you are, I have put a lot of photos on Verna's Memorial at # 151054425 and lots of all the rest of the family connected to her such as your Great Grandma Mary and further back if you wanted to see. Verna's cousin is Wilma and that is my Grandmother who is still alive.

RE: McQuary Cem., Christine Co., KY
I added all the pics that I took.(I think) I added each memorial though from the cemetery book for Christian County. The stone wasn't there for this person.'s possible. I will have to get my external hard drive out to see if there are any other pics. I don't think there are, but it doesn't hurt to check. I've switched computers since then so...give me a bit and I will try to find them. Oh, I've sent you my email address, did you get it?

Talk soon,

Are you in the Globe/Miami, AZ area?
If so, please message me right away. A crew is coming to the Globe, AZ cemetery this afternoon, and I'm trying to find as many findagrave volunteers as I can to come.
