Bio Photo DEAR ANCESTOR

YOUR TOMBSTONE STANDS AMONG THE REST;
NEGLECTED AND ALONE
THE NAME AND DATE ARE CHISELED OUT
ON POLISHED MARBLE STONE

IT REACHES OUT TO ALL WHO CARE
IT IS TOO LATE TO MOURN
YOU DO NOT KNOW THAT I EXIST
YOU DIED AND I WAS BORN.

YET EACH OF US ARE CELLS OF YOU
IN FLESH, IN BLOOD, IN BONE.
OUR BLOOD CONTRACTS AND BEATS A PULSE
ENTIRELY NOT OUR OWN.

DEAR ANCESTOR, THE PLACE YOU FILLED
ONE-HUNDRED YEARS AGO
SPREADS OUT AMONG THE ONES YOU LEFT
WHO WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU SO.

I WONDER IF YOU LIVED AND LOVED,
I WONDER IF YOU KNEW
THAT SOMEDAY I WOULD FIND THIS SPOT,
AND COME TO VISIT YOU?

RE: RE:WITHERUP Family
Hi Sandy: Yes. I remember you and I think I can help you this time. I have done some work on this Witherup branch in the interim. It would appear that your "Mary Brockington (Witherup) Head" is a daughter - perhaps the eldest child - of William Witherup and Susan Ridgway. Mary B. would probably be a granddaughter and apparent namesake of Mary (Brockington) Witherup who was the wife of John Witherup (1762-1842). The "Fanny Head" that you mentioned may have been named after her aunt, Frances Ridgway "Fanny" Witherup Glaze (1830-1913), who was Mary's sister. From your information, it looks like both these sisters ended up in Kansas. Frances married a Henry Glaze who fought with a Kansas regiment in the Civil War and was mortally wounded at Chickamauga. Then the now-widowed Frances re-married to a Daniel T. Titus who had been married previously to another Witherup sister, Ruth R. Witherup, who had died sometime before 1866. I am glad to find out something about Mary Brockington Witherup Head in your message and I will try to do some more investigating on her family. If you visit my rootsweb worldconnect tree you may find some more information that I have on the Witherup family. I am a 4th great grandchild of John Witherup and Mary Brockington and descend through their son Abraham Witherup and Elizabeth Phipps. Let me know if I can be of more help. I can be reached through my email address: myersb39@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Hi Sandy, I guess I am confused about which picture you would like to use? Am I some how related or what exactly?

RE: WITHERUP
Hi Sandy,

Regarding the Witherup Family, I made memorials for the Witherup Family that are buried at the Godfrey Cemetery at Hunnewell, Shelby County, MO who were from Pa.
I turned those memorials over to Bruce Myers (#47425897) he was related to the Witherup's. So you may contact him and he may have some information that you are looking for.
Best of luck on your search..

Respectfully

Mary

Is there any special first name of the Witherup name?

RE: RE:BIO
I'll let you know if I find anything on the name WITHERUP. I don't recall, if I have before.

Yes, I have gotten some really rude remarks. I was once told that only family members can add memorials for people. I didn't see that in the rules!!! : )

Best Wishes,
Patty
