If anyone is interested in Doan/Doane/Done/Dowen, etc., genealogy, please consider joining the Doane Family Association. Information can be found here:|
My grandmother, Wanda Zirkle Jilka, and great-aunt, Veda Zirkle Vickery, compiled a book commonly referred to as "The Red Book," "Zirkle Branches 1725-1978, Yesteryears and Yesterdays." There are several copies for sale if anyone is interested. It mainly outlines the history of two Zirkle/Zerkel branches which left VA, went to OH, then settled in Richland, Shawnee Co, KS.
"Life is not separate from death. It only looks that way." Blackfoot Quote
"A Visit to the Gravesite"
Your Tombstone stands among the rest,
Neglected and alone.
The name and dates are chiseled here,
On polished marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
Though it is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you,
In flesh and blood and bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago,
I wonder if you could have known,
Would spread among the ones you left
In all the seeds you've sown.
I wonder how you lived and loved?
I wonder if you ever knew?
That someday I would find you in this spot,
And come to visit you?
Walter Butler Palmer

Enjoy this site Thanks for your work! Hope you would consider adding one more possibility to Josiah Cook's genelogy I have found over the years from two different Cook family Bible Sources that Josiah was of Welch ancestry I did not buy it untill my Brother who is Cook as well Had his DNA tested, the modern test came back Celtic and traveled back threw all the Celtic migrations of the DNA line thur Europe into middle east it was a match to Wales. On mothers side it went to Viking Grandpa was a full Swede, its amazing how good they have DNA research now. If you want more info go to Richard Cook just after Josiah Jr. Thanks Roger Cook

Thank you for sending the newspaper information regarding her death.
|Jessica||Transfer of Memorials|
Wow! I see you have added over 28,000 memorials to Find A Grave! Thank you soooo much for all of your hard work and effort! Those of us who don't live nearby our dearly departed depend on folks like you for our research. I was hoping that you would be willing to transfer the memorials of my ancestors to my management? Of course, if you are also a descendant, I completely understand. Here are the individuals that I am interested in: Rebecca Drusilla Swearingen Tomlinson (#84968251), Joseph Tomlinson (#84967807), Elizabeth Walker Swearingen (#84970500), Van B Swearingen (#84970325), Rebecca Isaac Walker (#84970789), Charles Walker (#84970675), Alice Major Walker (#84971052), Daniel Walker (#84970949).

|Charlene King||Daniel Doan, III Find A Grave Memorial# 67267753|
Hi Becky. Just thought I would let you know that the death date for Daniel may be incorrect. I just found a record from Quaker Monthly Meeting which list Daniel's birth as 24 Eleventh month 1687. Prior to 1752 the Quaker 11th month was January! This followed the Julian calendar. It was not until 1752 that the 1st month became January.
Thanks for all the work you do! Your cousin - Charlene Doane King

That's a nice addition for the Captain Jack page. I'll see what I can do.
|Sandy Stokes||Elias Doan|
Sorry Becky I put Elias Doan picture in wrong place can you remove it? I think only the manager can do this. I don't know how. Sandy

Take a look at Memorial No. 181860916. One of the photos of the marker posted there looks strikingly similar to the photo you posted to Memorial No. 45331461. Memorial No. 181860916 is obviously a duplicate of Memorial No. 45331461. Good Gracious Ignatius has posted a cemetery deletion request for the incorrect "Maplewood Cemetery" of Lyons. I thought any complaint of photo-theft ought to be filed by the one stolen from.

|Laura Grover||Catherine Carberry Tedrow|
Would you please keep my name and email address attached to your Catherine Carberry Tedrow file? She is the only child of my Irish immigrant that we do not have a photo of. Perhaps during your genealogy endeavors you might run across one. If so, I would be deeply grateful for a copy.
