Cemeteries are such unique places. I enjoy the beauty of sculptures, mausoleums and various items around the interred. The statuary, the iconic images, representative symbols, old rod iron fencing; it is all fascinating. From the most elaborate statue to the simply inscribed piece of wood.

There is so much mystery in a cemetery. Stories that are told and stories to wonder about and stories to find out about.

I am a 4th generation San Franciscan and have lived in Marin County for over three decades.

I enjoy taking photographs of the surroundings and capturing the beauty of the burial plot. I do my best to capture the entire tombstone in as pretty a shot as I can manage. I continually watch for seasonal changes or offerings to capture a better representation of the marker and view.

I spend a great deal of time in cemeteries; both physically and virtually. I photograph and document a select number of cemeteries in the counties of Marin, Sonoma and Mendocino as well as San Francisco and Colma.

I also enjoy researching and adding histories, especially pre-1920's. Love the old West Marin ranching history and the Mendocino logging and nautical history. I enjoy perusing old newspapers and other documents to find people lost to each other and especially connecting orphaned baby memorials to their parents.

I generally stick to the counties I am familiar with as I know the geography, area history, etc.

Please do not send me full obits. If you want to take your time and edit out certain points, please do so, per policy.

I will not post the names of living individuals per policy.

Rosa and Leonarda Accaira
Hi. I noticed you added some information to a memorial at Mt Carmel for Leonard Accaira, and am curious as to whether or not you are related to them.? Am doing some entry work at St Joseph Cem in River Grove illinois , and one of my friends took a picture of a marker that had Rosa (d 1924) and Leonardo (d 1916) along with Antonina Giamalva (d 1944). There is the memorial at Mt Carmel for wondering if the family moved the body, or created a cenotaph at St Joseph for him? And how they are related to Antonina Giamalva who shares the stone. Appreciate what info you can give me!

Thank you for the information regarding the defunct cemetery. I found information that the tombstones were used as "fill" for the approach to the Golden Gate Bridge. Travesty!
