Find A Grave volunteers have worked hard on documenting families which in turn leaves a legacy for future generations. If one person reconnects with their family & learns of their ancestral heritage via data, headstone photos or links on the site, then it's all worth the time.

Thanks to the Find A Gravers that have transferred to my account! Especially the ones with the big numbers that feel that memorials belong in the hands of family.

Wishing all smooth sailing with discovering your ancestors with no brick walls in your path.

Peace to all that are here and beyond.

P.S. I post & care for mostly my direct ancestor lines but I do manage memorials in Mount Olivet Cemetery (Chester County, Pennsylvania), Rosemary Cemetery (Sarasota, Florida) & South Whitley Cemetery (South Whitley, Indiana). Please check the virtual cemeteries on my profile for your family, no matter the relation & ask for a transfer.

Oops ... the location given in the obit was Atwood, not Atwater as I was thinking. You have given me a lot to go on.

Thanks again.

Whetsel Family of Ohio
Thank you very much, that does help--especially the marriage information for Eliza A. Whetsel. I found an obit on someone's "family tree" for Catherine saying the family was in Atwood, Illinois for some years. If that Atwood is the same one I know of, it would be in Macoupin County, Illinois--a county I am very familiar with.

Whetsel Family of Ohio
I am currently working on my Wagner family of Pennsylvania to Missouri.

Eliza A. Whetsel (Whitsell, etc.) was daughter of Charles Whitsel born in Pennsylvania. I believe I found her the 1850 census, as daughter of Charles Whitsel b. 1811 Penna. and his wife, Louisa b. 1814 Ohio. (Children listed in the census were: Henry, Eliza, Jane, David, Addison, Wm. H., and Urvilla Whitsel)

Eliza A. Whitsel married two times, and had a daughter Lillie May Frazell by the second marriage. Lillie May married John Edwin Wagner who was of Cherokee County, Kansas.

I have a copy of Eliza A. Whitsel's death certificate naming her father as Charles Whitsel b. PA. Mother's name was unknown.

Do you have any information that corresponds with what I have found?

Thank you,

Linda R.F. Arnold

RE: Bethe Family
That is interesting. Do you think the name was Bedhe in Germany, and it was changed in the U.S.? I had never see any records of the name Bedhe.
