Bio and Links
Bio Photo I became interested in genealogy 12 + years ago. Wish it had been sooner, as most of the older relatives are now gone. Makes figuring out "puzzles" alot harder. But I do enjoy the hunt. Some of the surnames I am researching are Mace, Robinson/Roberson, Hughes, Wilson and Price from mainly North and South Carolina. Check out my virtual cemeteries. If you recognize any of the names, please leave me a message. Always looking for new cousins.

I will not add any current obits per Find a grave FAQs

RE: Elmer Emmett Turnage,Sr photos
Oh my goodness...yes, Emmett A. Turnage (on find a grave )...is my Wonderful GRANDfather. The Church, Gospel Light Tabernacle is Still Open Door to All, go sometime, Marge Gahagan, (Pastor's wife, Arnold) is the sweetest Lady and You will certainly feel welcome. Papa started that Church in 1964. He was 85 then. I sure miss Him and Ora, his wife, My Grandmother(by his remarriage, but better than blood, to me !). Alma Nell Turnage is My Precious Mother. Lost her way too young. only 47, in 1974. Read her memorial, Daddy's(Willie Bert Turnage) and see my background...or should I say, MY LEGACY ! Thank -You for Your Kindness. I f you like, you can give me your name, probably remember You from Papa's Church. Sincerely, Julie

RE: Carrie Ada Funderburk Hancock
Willie is the oldest daughter of Carrie (my grandmother). Aunt Willie died in 1980 (I think) either in Baltimore where she lived most of her adult life, or in New York where both her daughters lived. I have searched for a long time trying to find her grave but have not located it yet. All her siblings have not died so there is no one I can contact to get more info. I'll continue searching. If you locate it, please let me know.

New Discoveries
Nana, I found a couple of Prices buried in a cemetery between Big Pine and Spring Creek in an area called Anderson Cove. The cemetery link is http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=2568672. Also you might be interested in two other recently added cemeteries: Tom Roberts at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2567087 and Gardner-Ray http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2567853.

RE: Payne Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery
According to the French Broad Baptist Association, the Presbytery met on January 23, 1887 to organize the Payne's Chapel Church. Chief Payne donated a half acre for the building. Construction began in 1904 and finished in 1905. Frank Payne and his son Frank Jr later donated land for the cemetery. Gaither Payne was the first person to be buried in the cemetery. He died on February 20, 1905.

RE: Payne Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery
I went by the Payne Chapel Baptist Church today. To the far left of Jane Price's headstone are about a half-dozen grave sites with just field stones (no engravings on them). So no luck there.

I'm not sure how old the church is or when it was established. Usually they put that kind of information on a plaque or a sign in front of the church, but I didn't see one.
