Brother to Albert Catherine Theis Fedewa
Frederick W. Theis

Frederick W. Theis, age 91, went peacefully to be with our Lord on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Eaton County Palliative Care, Charlotte. He was born June 9, 1926 in Dallas Township to Frank and Mary Elizabeth (Fink) Theis. Fred was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westphalia and was a charter member of the Westphalia Council 2890, Knights of Columbus. He was a retired power plant operator for the State of Michigan Department of Public Health and a lifelong farmer. Fred was an avid Spartan fan and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers until the end. He played a great game of cards and loved a good sing-along with friends and family, especially at Pokagon State Park, where the family camped for 38 years. Many knew him as an energetic polka dancer, in fact, it was at a dance that he met the love of his life, Marie (Schneider) with whom he enjoyed 64 years of marriage. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and soon-to-be great-grandfather.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Alberta (Leo) Fedewa and Josephine. He was also preceded by in-laws, Louis and Lidwina (Thelen) Schneider, Edgar and Monica Schneider, Ronald Schneider, Alvin Schneider, and Louis Schneider. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Charles (Nancy) Theis, Dale (Maria) Theis, Janet (Joseph) Amodeo, and Eileen (Patrick) Kissane. Fred is survived by his adoring grandchildren, Andrew, David (Marian), Ann Marie, and Mary Clare Theis; Matthew, Michael, Benjamin, and Mia Elizabeth Theis; Ashley and Nicholas Amodeo; Ryan and Liam Kissane. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Sister Lucy Schneider, SSJ, Sister Agnes Schneider, OP, Helen (Bob) Skriba, James (Judy) Schneider, Barb Schneider, Karen Schneider, Doris (Dale) Westrick; and many loving nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia, with Rev. Eric Weber presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. The family will receive visitors at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St., Westphalia, on Sunday from 2:00–8:00 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 3:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s School, Westphalia. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at

Michael Pung
Thank you for taking the picture of Michael Pung's headstone. Is there possibly a Pung family monument? I would love a picture of that, if possible. Michael's headstone only says "Father" and I would love something with at least the family name.
Best wishes,
Anna Rowe Love
