My name is James and I live in Burlington Kansas. Im originally from California. Ive also lived in Oregon and Vermont, but Kansas is my kind of state. I became an Eagle Scout in 1986 and graduated from high school in 1987 from Lake High in Garden Grove, California. After 21 years I have finally decided that going to college might be a good idea, so I am now taking online courses and majoring in History. I am a staunch republican and patriotic American. |
Every time I visit a memorial, historical landmark, museum or battlefield, I get a sense of excitement that is hard to explain. Some people tell me to get a life. I tell people this is my life. Instead of having beer slogans and car posters hanging up in my house, I have family pictures, old and new in frames and sitting all over the house.
While researching my mothers side of the family, I found out that General Custer is related to us and President James Monroe, who was my ggggreat grandmothers nephew.
On my fathers side I am a decendant of William the Conquorer.
Im obsessed with Genealogy and American History. I love old movie classics, but war pictures and movies pertaining to history are my favorites. Ive been into Genealogy every since I was 11 years old. It all started when I used to hear stories told by my Great Grandma Bentley and Grandpa Turner.
Everyone should be remembered and never ever forgotten. It was the ancestors we study today that made us who we are. To forget them is disgraceful.
I really appreciate all the messages left for my family and friends. They are greatly appreciated. If I can be of any help to anyone with their genealogy just let me know. If anybody has any additional information on the memorials I created please let me know and I will add it.
A special thank you to Debra Dawson who,out of her own pocket, sponsored my Grandma and Grandpa Turner's memorial's,also my Uncle Dennis memorial and the tokens she left and the pictures she sent me,they are greatly appreciated.

James, thank you for contacting me. I would LOVE to have them! I would even love to have just a scanned image of them. Charlotte Fosdick is a 3rd cousin and John C Binder is 1st cousin 3R (3 times removed), who married Eva Mary Sweeten who is also a 1st cousin, 3R. So, I am very interested and would be happy to reimburse any expenses you incur to get them to me. I will send you an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Hello - I was just at the Hassingers Old Cemetery, Snyder County, PA on my way to my sister's place nearby. I was looking for a few headstones and in my research for information on the cemetery, ran across an online family tree for the Gifft family line. I am sending a couple of edit requests based on that information. I'm not sure if you've ever seen it. If you don't agree with the edits, feel free to decline them.

Thanks for the transfer. I'll gather a few additional pictures and info to add soon. Interesting you commented on our closeness to Dwain. My wife and I bought a home a few doors over from my grandmother Joy Toll in 2014. I have been doing the yard work and some maintenance on the home of Dwain and Joy since living here. I feel him all around that property always.

Nice tribute here. Dwain was only the grandfather I knew. I am Patrick Monfils Fort, son of Steve Monfils, one of Dwain's step-sons. If it's ok I'll add a few recent pictures of him soon. Patrick

|Sonja Myers||Clinton T Starnes|
I am part of the Starnes family heritage in/around Lebanon/Laclede County in Missouri. In looking up Lockey Jane Powers & Frederick Starnes children, I found Clinton's memorial, and you commented on 11/27/09 about the fact that he was a civil war veteran. Do you have anymore information on him? Just wondering about his civil war veteran status, and his life in general. Any help you can provide would be great!
FYI - I have been on ancestry.com, and there are many errors in the Starnes family ancestry that I am trying to resolve. I think I have bit off more than I can chew! :)

Hi. Have you run across Benjamin Turnipseed in your research on the Turnipseed Family History? He is my great, great grandfather and I have been unable to figure out who his parents were and exactly where he was born on 15 Nov 1800. In two US Censuses he stated Pennsylvania, another in Virginia and yet another in Indiana.
It appears he married Rebecca Glaze daughter of George Glaze and Catherine Turnipseed Glaze on 28 Aug 1823 in Fayette County, Ohio. They had several children: George, Benjamin Jr., Soloman, Elizabeth and Isaac.
On 07 Jan 1847, Benjamin married Cynthia Ann Rhodes in McLean County, Illinois. They had the following Children: Aaron, Lafayette, Washington, Martin Van Buren, Adam, Minerva (my great grandmother), Jay Willis and Martha Jane. Minerva married Benjamin Franklin Woodard and they homesteaded outside of Sandpoint, Idaho.
Benjamin Sr. died on 08 Nov 1881 in the Martin Township, McLean County, Illinois. He is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Colfax, McLean County, Illinois.
Any information on Benjamin would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.
|S Bentley||RE: Hello|
James that sounds wonderful!! I will look up Bentley and Brent on facebook, Cliff will like that. I saw what you wrote about your grandfather Bud and was very impressed as was Cliff, wish I would have known him. Cliff remembers some but Wendell didn't talk much about his family. I am new to ancestry and have started from scratch (haha)for Cliff's side of the family, it will be nice to connect to yours. Thank you so much! By the way, Cliff is Wendell's son and I (Sharon) am Wendell's daughter-in-law. I sent request to join the facebook page. Wendell passed away from cancer in 2000.
|S Bentley||RE: Hello|
Nice to hear from you too! Thank you for responding. Unfortunately Chuck (Wendell) passed away in March of 2000. My husband, Cliff, remembers your grandfather Clarence, said he was called "Bud". Since Wendell didn't talk much about his side of the family we have always wondered about where they were. We live in Sacramento, CA but was raised in Phoenix AZ. Cliff was excited that you responded and says hello. I've just started on ancestry.com so our journey begins.
