I began my genealogy researching after my father mentioned that he wanted to know what happened to one of his aunts on his father's side. He didn't know his father since he passed away in 1935 just after he was born. He didn't know a thing about his grandparents on his father's side either, so my search began. I wanted to locate information, any information that I could gather for him. |
After I received marriage and death certificates for some of the relatives, names started fitting into place. I found it interesting and intriguing. The journey has taken so far 3 years and I still have a long way to go.
I am now searching for locations of graves/headstones for many of my relatives so that I can let my father know where they are resting.
I am hoping that this site can help me find the relatives long lost. Maybe some of the family headstones that I add can help others in their search, as well.
Family names include: Thompson, East, Roope, Roop, Rupe, Hudson, Wolfe, Loftis, Lewis, Wilbourne, Wilburn, Wilborn, Nance, White, Bond, and many others.
I am having difficulty in locating graves for many relatives. I know where they passed away but where they are resting is a mystery. Maybe some day they will no longer be mysteries.

I'm sorry, I meant to ask if I may use your photos of a couple of tombstones for my Ancestry, familysearch and other genealogical sites? I will give you credit for the photos.
Thank you for all you do to help us find our ancestors.

With regard to your memorial for Aaron, his mother was actually Eliza Ann Nelson (#83819580). She married George Washington Walls in 1893. Any children born before 1900 were her children by George. That included Pearl and Winnie (I'm still searching for her grave). She and George divorced and he then married Malinda.
I have added Eliza as a wife. If you could make the distinctions in the wives children, it would be of great help to other resources.

Thank you for correcting your listing for Mrs. Akers. Though she is in my Ratcliffe family, being the 1st cousin of husband of 2nd cousin of husband of 2nd cousin 1x removed isn't exactly a close connection, I had the information and wanted to share it. I hope it helps you and anyone else.

Just an FYI for the above named person. I notice that you have on the record she died 11 Oct 1999, but if you look at tombstone picture it states Nov. 11, 1999 or possibly Nov. 14, 1999. Anyway S.S.D.I. listed death date as 15 Nov 1999. I just thought you might want to know.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Thank you so much for the transfer, Connie. Regarding my request to transfer non-direct line-- I am the very last of my line with no known living cousins, siblings, aunts, uncles etc. As the sole heir I inherited all the photographs and documents. I've spent the last five years building the family tree and an trying to get the information in a public venue like Find A Grave for posterity. I'm the family's last chance to get the story straight. That's why I am requesting transfers of more than my direct line. I hope this helps you understand my position a little better.
Thank you for your assistance.

I love to read the old newspapers at the Library of Congress website. Today, I found a little article in the Clinch Valley News (Jeffersonville, VA) of 12/1/1916 about the marriage of G. A. & Myrtle Zirkle. The article contains some family information you might find interesting.
