Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born and raised in Houston County. My father, Tommie Johnson was laid to rest at Wesley Chapel. I still miss him. I would like to thank everyone who has left a flower on his memorial. He was a wonderful man. I am also the ggggrandaughter of Captain Samuel Harrison Bowen, and also James Jennings. Who both served our Country when the Tea Party first sprang into action.

I believe very strongly in cemetery preservation. Cemeteries in most cases are the only history of those that came before us. Like rare books in a library once it's lost it's lost forever. My only intention is to create a HISTORICAL RECORDING of those who are "Gone, but not Forgotten" before their tombstones are lost forever. This is copied from a fellow graver: "Get out and photograph memorials while they are still readable, preserve those memories that are quickly fading."

A while ago someone asked me why I do this, why do I spend time in cemeteries, taking pictures of graves, researching families that aren't my own, adding them here, linking and transferring, talking to people and finding out more. Ask me every day and I imagine I'd have a different answer every one, but in the end it boils down to love. I love what I do, and I love my family, and know that everyone was once loved, loved others, and just because they have died doesn't mean that they don't deserve the love of the living, even if it isn't a relative or friend.

FROM THE FAQS: How do I clean a headstone or grave marker?Unless you are related to the interred on the headstone in question, DO NOT do anything to the headstone.

FROM THE FAQS: If you want to add from an obituary: Newspapers represent a very good source of information as a public record. What we ask is that those who index and memorialize the deceased from newspapers and other 3rd party accounts do so with full respect of copyright, refrain from adding information about living people, and respond generously to the family of the deceased.

FROM THE FAQS: Last Name as you would find it on the tombstone, if the interred had more than one marriage or other possible spellings please place this information in the bio and use the family links. Do not include honorary or other suffixes in the Last Name field.

Please do not post death certificates on my memorials. If their is information that you want posted, send me the d/c and I will type this in the bio section.

I have no crazy rules, My pictures are your pictures. Feel free to beg, borrow, steal with no intent to return. I take pictures of headstones out of kindness ... not for my ego or for the "numbers.

"Be kind to one another because - One day we will all be, 'just a name' etched in stone. "Nothing is ended until it is Forgotten."This is the day the Lord hath made. I will rejoice and be glad in it! (and not spend the whole day working on Find A Grave!)

Carol , I added photo to 2008 memorial. I also deleted the 2010 memorial so there would be no duplicates. Thanks for pointing this out to me.

Dear Carol Anne,

Thank you so very much for transferring my Uncle Bill's memorial to my care. I added a second photo to his memorial that you might be interested in seeing. It is of him in WWII where he was a co-pilot in the Army Air Force.

I visited your parents memorials and left them each my White Dove.

I see that you have a headstone photo request in Memory Gardens in Victoria, Texas. Victoria is our closest large town, but is an hour away. We go to Victoria from time to time. I will try to walk the cemetery for you next time we are there in cooler weather.

Thank you again for the transfer, and thank you for all that you do here on findagrave to remember those who have passed.

God Bless,
Maurene

Bryan Wright
Thank You
A lot of my family is buried in Evergreen Cemetery near Percilla. I just wish I could find a Wright family member that has some pictures of family members. My GGGG Grandfather was William Wright. I've found written articles about his family living at Ft Houston and building the first gin in the area.

If you know of any Wright family members in that area, I would love to know them...learn about their families, who they were, what they did, where they lived.

Thank you for being so kind to take pictures and clean the headstones.

Sincerely,
Bryan Wright

Thank you! I'm Velma's granddaughter Drenda Hillyard. I'm taking care of my mother (velma's daughter) Rozell. She has Alzheimer's and we are going to be visiting the cemetery soon. I haven't been back since my nanny was buried. My mom couldn't remember if she had ever got the tombstone finished. I can see that the dates need to be added. I will see to it this is completed. Thank you again for all you do.
