Bio Photo I am a Daughter of a Union Veteran of the Civil War. (DUVCW) My Great Great Grandfather, John Delong fought in the Civil War. I am unable to find his grave. He died in Spencerville, Ohio on June 17, 1895 at the age of 84.

I volunteer at the Grand Rapids, Michigan Home for Veterans.
I maintain the Cemetery records and make sure the tombstones get ordered and placed at the burial site in a timely manner.

I am an United States Air Force Veteran.

Also I am the secretary for the Grand Rapids Civil War Round Table. And I am a director on our newly formed group, Friends of Michigan Veterans' Homes. We raise money for the little extras for our Vets in the Homes.

It is hard for me to pass a cemetery without stopping. Lucky for me, my husband has the same interests.

Please if you request a transfer, please use the EDIT key. Also send me your ID number.

RE: JOSEPH BLOOMSTROM
Hi Beverly,
Thanks for letting know about this and I think you are right since there are Bloomstrom's buried at the one in Sparta. I'll have to call tomorrow to verify Joe's place of burial.

Thanks Again and God Bless You!

Hi Beverly,

Thanks so much for the message you left on my page. I live about 2 1/2 hours from Broadview, the world really is a small place. So many of my family and my husband's came from the USA, mostly Pennsylvania, Indiana and Iowa. So thank full for this site.

Samuel Wheaton, Civil War Veteran
I am hoping you can give me some incite or direct me to a person who can help me. I read that you volunteer at the Old Soldiers Home. My great great grandfather, Samuel Wheaton, a Civil War vet who volunteered for the MI 2nd cavalry in 1861 was one of the first veterans to enter The Old Soldier's Home in 1886. I have copies of his records there, but he was discharged in 1889. Cause of discharge column just states "dropped". Does anyone today know what that meant back in 1889? Did he leave the Home of his own choosing? Did he go missing? The pension he was receiving was cancelled in 1889 because of failure to cash in money sent. I am sad that I cannot find his grave. He is most likely in an unmarked grave as he was elderly, divorced, and poor when he died. He isn't listed as buried in the cemetery at the Old Soldiers Home. Any help, suggestions is appreciated.

RE: DOROTHY SKULA LOWERY
Hello, Thank you for writing. I think that is probably the correct Dorothy. If you want to add photos or info, just tell me. She was my grandfather Lowery's last wife.

RE: SPIKE
Thank you for that information. I almost teared up on the "touch for luck" story. You must have made him happy while here. Thank you.

RE: CLARENCE BRISBIN
Yes, common ground and permit grounds have a lot of burials. All stones for those areas are already posted so anyone else in those sections do not have a gravestone. Personally, I would prefer no photo for them however Find A Grave recommends to put a photo of the area. If it would work better for you, I can send you a list of all common ground and permit ground burials and then you just don't request them. I cannot keep up with your requests! Lol

Whatever works for you is fine for me. I will check those dates!

Bev,

I fulfilled a chunk of your requests. I feel really bad about some of them. They are buried, unmarked, in common ground and there is. I way to tell exactly where they are buried. Seems that Find A Grave prefers a picture of the area vs no picture at all.

Your Daughters Mother-in-Law
Quite by chance, we came across this message when we were looking for Lawrence and Nellie Peuler. When we went to thank the creator of their memorial, we saw a message you had left for her. Just wanted to say, "Deepest sympathy for your loss." Hugs from us and the Scherphorn family––next door neighbors to the Puelers in Hudsonville. You have been so kind to us and many others, it doesn't seem fair for you and yours to suffer loss.

Hi Sandy,

Thank you for adding this memorial for Shirley and her husband, Bob. I just wasn't ready to do it.

Shirley is my daughter's Mother-In-Law. She was killed in a tragic accident. Another 86 year old lady ran a red light and T-Boned Shirleys car. She died at the hospital.

We are still trying to understand.
