Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm a retired federal employee who fell into doing some online family research for a friend of mine - a McKenzie - and now I'm in so deep I can't get out! Most of you probably know the feeling. But it's a harmless obsession which I enjoy so I'll stick with it until I pull out the rest of my disappearing hair. I try to post most of my findings on Find A Grave so if you're interested in the McKenzie family who settled in central Missouri after emigrating from North Carolina via Kentucky, just enter the last name - mckenzie - in the box to the right and take a look! As for my own family, some surnames would be Fallas, Fallass, Bray, Oechsli, Mills - all of those in the northeastern quadrant of the lower 48 - and, on the Swedish side, Nilsson and Waldemarsson in the province of Skåne län.

Thanks again, Tom! You have been a big help! Are you a relation to the Peets? If so, I could transfer ownership.

new pic for holger Beckwith
Hi Tom, I recently was given a new photo of my grandfather. Pvt. Holger Beckwith. After looking at the stripes on his sleeve in this pic, it appears he has 2 bars. Would this actually mean he was a corporal , and not a private. Any info would be great. I have added the pic to his memorial page.

Hey Thanks for the Message! I had not noticed "Edits" before, and have pushed them through.

I do not have any photos Herbert Peets marker, but will keep it in mind the next time I am out there.

Thanks for the message again, and for the tip! Do you know if there is a newsletter or anything that notifies when they make functional updates to the site?

Thanks, Tom! I uploaded these photos with the mobile app, so it was great to have your message to remind me to come back and update them with captions and add them to the other memorial. Happy to contribute in this way!

As for the inscriptions, yes, they are in Swedish, but unfortunately I don't read Swedish! You have slightly better luck with Google translate when you use the lower-case letters... something about travelling to the motherland? Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Best,
Helen

Fred & Ida
My parents were good friends with Fred and Ida all of my life, they lived one street over from my family. When I was a young child and as a teen we spent many wonderful hours with "Uncle Fred and Aunt Ida" I knew the story's well about and how things were done on the islands also. I was taught by Uncle Fred to watch and move in the shallows so that the stingrays would not hurt you, along with how to row a boat. I also have one or two pictures.
My Parents are Harry and Helen Puckett.

Dear Tom Nelson,
Thank You for your following email inquiry: "Is there any way of reposting the marker photographs so that they're "right-side-up"? The family would really appreciate it. Thanks Tom in Kansas City, Missouri"

I was not aware of an ugly problem. Thank You for caring enough to bring it to my attention. However, I do not know who to thank or how the problem was corrected. When I viewed Dick's memorial after receiving your email, there is only Billie Wolfe's cemetery photo.

Again, thank you for caring! Are you one of Dick's family members? Do you have any photos that could be added to his memorial? I would be so delighted to see a photo of him and the delivery truck.

SWEDE

Tom, the book includes all the known burials up to about 1984, when it was published. I have included all the names from the book buried in the chapel by niche number. Were the niches not engraved never sold?

The book is available at several libraries in the metro areas should you wish to review before buying.

Swedes from Halland, Ostergotland and Gotland - 1868, 1871 and 1913.

Regards,

Ed
