Bio Photo "Show me [how you care for] your cemeteries and I will tell you what kind of people you have."
Benjamin Franklin

All of my ancestors for at least six generations are from Fentress county Tennessee. I have a great deal of interest in the history of that area.
I would love to have old family photos and would be glad to share mine!
I have found many cousins here on Find a Grave and would like to meet more.

"If I didn't have those people back there, I would never have had anything to write about. That's where I got all my stories from. My life is from them. I'm going to do everything to keep up for them, in memory. That is my duty from now until I die."
- Author Ernest J. Gaines explaining why he takes care of an old cemetery on the former plantation where five generations of his ancestors, going back to slavery, are buried.

bessie winningham
Mr. Winningham, I have just became acquainted with a lady named Bessie Winningham who is now age 81.
Bessie now lives in fentress county.
Obviously you are familiar with the Winningham ancestry and I would like to know more about Bessie's ancestry. I will attempt to track the Winningham's back as far as possible. I am a geneologist who does this for a hobby.

Thanks for any info.

RE: Memorial # 62596282
Name at Birth: Maria Walker
Born in Ohio
She married Jacob Arnold on 22 Aug 1844 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. At some point after that, they relocated to Owen County, Indiana where their first son, John H Arnold was born in 1846.

I don't know anything about her death other than the date but Jacob Arnold did remarry.

Robert L. Vandevender II
Find A Grave Memorial# 57850071

I think you have the birth date incorrect for James Vandeventer. The correct dates as I can tell are as follows.

Birth 27 OCT 1830 Spencer Co, KY

Death 6 AUG 1914 Freedom, Owen Co, In; Bur. Adel Cem

He was my 3rd great-uncle.

Many of your names are the same as mother Evelyn June Matthews Vandevender was born in Jamestown, TN. I work on Wright, Beaty, Winningham, etc.

Andrew J. Hatfield
Andrew J. Hatfield has a marker in the Wolf River Cemetery in Pall Mall. The Marker is very faded and hard to read. He is my Great Grandfather. Sister mentioned that he was buried somewhere else first then moved to Wolf River Cemetery. I have not researched this.

Hazel May Townsend Long Reeves Mem. #62508422
My my paternal grandmother's maiden name was Long. We are trying to get as many family members as possible on Find A Grave. Hazel's memorial is a mess. I hope I didn't contribute to the problem. It has her listed as her own mother. Her mother was Susie D. Franklin Mem. 116209125. She is also listed as her own child. She has five children but only one is listed on her memorial and I'm afraid to add the others, afraid I'll only make matters worse. I don't know what should be done to straighten this out. Can we work together to clear this up?

Thomas G Ham headstone
Where did you find the picture of the headstone for Thomas G Ham? He was born in 1841 and died in 1870. I had information he was buried in the Stultz Cemetery in Owen County, but the picture you submitted of his stone looks as though it's still up. Could you tell me where it is?
