Bio and Links
Bio Photo When I was researching my own family, I received a great deal of help from complete strangers who were willing to help me without asking anything in return. This my way of paying that forward. So it tickles me beyond words to discover my headstone photos as part of someone's family tree. How sad would it be if after all the photos are taken and posted and researched and documented that no one looked at them or cared that they were there. So to those of you who have found my photos and made use of them, thanks for caring and you're most welcome.

I feel that its important to say at least a little something about each of their lives. They lived, they loved, and had families. For those that have nothing there, they're not forgotten, I just haven't gotten there yet. And while I don't always cite my sources on each memorial, for Long Island special thanks goes to Carolee Nichols Diamond and David Roberts for their unending patience and wealth of information; the transcriptions and family photos of Elbert N. Carter; George Moraitis, Historian for the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Port Jefferson (R.I.P. my friend); Steve Gill from the Patchogue Cemeteries Restoration Committee; Dan Prunty, Ruland Funeral Home and President of Cedar Grove Cemetery, for his patience and tireless trips into the basement.

If you find something that needs correcting, or if you have information you'd like added, please use the SAC and I'll be happy to make the changes. If you need to contact me, send to aislin at optonline dot net

(p.s. Nastiness and rudeness will be ignored completely and any correspondence will be deleted without further thought.)

William R Sanford
Interesting fact that his brother James F. Sanford was married to Abbie Clark. He died in 1875.
William Sanford married Ella Winham she was the daughter of Frances Clark (Abbie's sister) The Clarks are Great Aunts of mine.

This is so odd because the stones are exactly the same pull up #14047405. They have it in Old Baptist Cemetery Coram, Suffolk, LI????? So weird hoping you can make some sense out of it. I know my Sanfords were a little odd BUT 2 of the same stones in 2 different Cemeteries???? LOL Thanks for your help! Stephen Sanford(

William G. Bailey
Hi - i'm the Town of Delhi, NY historian. I was recently given a copy of the marriage certificate for William G. Bailey and Mariah D. Shaver, dated Dec. 16, 1857 in Delhi, NY. The original is in Dutchess County, NY. Both William and Maria(h) are buried in Meredith Square Cemetery, Meredith, Delaware County, NY. I can't find any info as to why their marriage certificate would be in Dutchess County, NY. According to the Find A Grave link, it doesn't seem like they had any children. Do you have any more info>? I'd love to be able to get the original certificate to the descendants of William and Mariah.

Thank you for the friendly note (and updates to memorials). I very occasionally receive an email via the website I set up, but I have no idea when or if it's ever really visited. My daughter says the "personal photo" is totally creepy. Anyway, thanks for the nice email!
