"We want Find A Grave to remain a place of respect and remembrance, just like a real cemetery." The object of Find A Grave is to document burials, not make it a repository for details more appropriately posted on a genealogical website - or in some cases, better kept in your own private notes. |
On occasion the Declined Message feature does not function. When that occurs, if you do not have a valid e-mail address displayed or if you have messages disabled, you will not receive any additional information regarding a declined suggestion. You may contact me directly for further explanation. My e-mail address is displayed below.
Please do not send suggestions based on unsourced entries found on an Ancestry tree or other genealogical website.
Please don't ask for a town name to be added as a birth location when a birth clearly occurred in a rural location, regardless of what might have been written later, following the misleading practice of naming a nearby town. For example, I have received suggestions to add a town - before the town was even laid out. We pay the greatest respect to early residents by accurately noting where they were born, lived and died. If you want a town name as a geographical point of reference, you can keep that in your own records.
Familiarize yourself with the guidelines outlined in the "Help with Find A Grave", linked at left, particularly those under the Working With Photos heading:
--Can I add a photo that I found on a different website?
--Someone posted my copyrighted photos! How can I get them removed or get them properly credited?
--I found a photo of a relative on Find A Grave, can I use it?
The above questions and answers are in agreement with standards approved by the National Genealogical Society
Unless otherwise stated by the contributor, no tombstone photographs taken after 1989 are in public domain. If you are creating your own family tree on another website, please respect the copyright of the contributor.

Wow you are busy tonight! Thank You. I've been exchanging information with a Shaw relative in northern IL from the work I did at Norwood Cem. Thanks again for all your help!

Thank you for contacting me, I noted your concerns on Emma's memorial. I did change the place of birth but left the year of death pending further research.

Hi, I have add a photo to a memorial you control. Do not know for sure if this is the same person. Are you related and or would you know what he looked like? (Other photos) Memorial number 82891323. I have no problem taking the picture down if it is not him. Thanks, Dave
I've been slowly creeping up on the Mustain family. They are in the tiniest section of Springdale Cem. in Peoria, next to my great aunt and uncle. Thanks for your help!

THANK YOU! I had William G Sayr's name spelled wrong in my files - I had Sarah Sayr's maiden name spelled wrong! I've been to Tull Cemetery before, but looking for names spelled wrong doesn't count!
Have a wonderful Christmas! Thank You Again.
