Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am retired after 20 years with the Sheriff's Department including the last 8 years as Sheriff.
Besides that I have been a police officer and coal miner and am a US Army Airborne veteran of the Viet Nam war.
I live in southern Illinois and enjoy searching old cemeteries and newer ones too. Would be happy to take pictures at cemeteries within a resonable distance for anyone who might ask.

RE: Stasia Hughes
Very interesting about Nimmo Black and Stasia. I see the headstone picture is up on his page, and I like the picture of him you posted. Next time I am in that cemetery I will look up Stasia in the on-site database and see if they have her correct dates there.

RE: Stasia Hughes
Hi John, I posted a picture of Nimmo's grave on Stasia's memorial page even though the stone has no inscription for her. (I checked the back of the stone.) I am unable to post this picture on Nimmo's page (yet) because someone has put a 'claim' on it. If they relinquish that claim without filling it, I will be glad to post there. Also, the dates on Stasia's memorial page seem very off - worth looking into...

RE: Monroe Draughn
Thank you, John. How appropriate for Veterans' Day. I am sharing your message and the posting for Rable with my husband. This is first time we've learned the name of another man in the raid. If you have additional names, please send them to me. My husband, Bill (Monroe's son) was a senior in high school when his father passed away and like you, he joined the Army soon after. He did 2 tours in Viet Nam.

Thinkin' About Lincoln
RE: Margaret Wilhelm
Excellent, John! Are there perchance memorials for the Forster parents that I can connect them to? (And that's Forster for them, right, and not Foster?) Thanks -- 'Lincoln'

RE: Winnie A McDonnell
I only knew her very breifly and I was very little. I remember her as being a very sweet woman, cooking. I must have been 4. I have many photos of her, I only put a few online. She was also in Eastern Star.

Hi John, John H Pahlmann is my daughter's 2nd great-grandfather. The family line goes thru Oliver to Hazel Pahlman, her grandmother. You are maybe a 2nd cousin? Walt
