My wife and I love taking photos around St Clair & Sanilac Counties. We've found the graves of several of our own relatives while fulfilling photo requests, so it's a win-win situation.|
Surnames we are researching include McCallum, Baker, Black, Cole, Keltner, & Ravin. If one of our memorials is a relative of yours, we would love to hear from you.

Think I've finished. There are still several 'dupes' in the listing being managed by Find A Grave, I have called a few of these to their attention but there are more.

I am deleting the majority of my submissions to this cemetery. Regards.

I sympathize with your predicament. However, the other cemetery names are not incorrect - they are known, documented aka's, and Find A Grave allows (and encourages) submissions via transcriptions from third parties. This is just one of those unfortunate situations that has no easy way out.
For future reference, anytime you find a cemetery with more than one name (Kilmartin/Stewart), it would be wise to flip the names and do a partial-name cemetery search (Stew...) In this case, you would have seen Stewart/Kilmory and that might have been enough to cause you to look further. When creating a new cemetery, often a quick google search will reveal historical information that can help avoid duplicates, and can be added to the "bio" area of the cemetery page. I also make it a practice to spot-check people-name searches at the county level, especially when creating a large number of memorials in the same cemetery.
Stewart's/Kilmory Cemetery has been merged into Kilmartin/Stewart Cemetery, resulting in approximately 140 duplicate memorials. Most, if not all of those duplicates were created in August 2014. Any unique information, including photos, should be added/submitted to the original memorials, then the duplicates deleted.
It will be relatively easy to locate the duplicates using the cemetery-wide index:
Simply scroll through the names looking for "sets", allowing for variations in spelling and dates.
The name on the cemetery sign will always take precedence as the official cemetery name ... you will note that the merged cemetery now includes "also known as" names and a corrected cemetery bio which explains the various names.
Thanks for attending to these duplicates as soon as possible.

The Cemetery is older than the sign.
This is a very old cemetery, located on Elgin County Road 37 (Middlesex- Elgin Townline), between Gladstone Road and Belmont. The land originally belonged to John Stewart. In the early days it was known as the Kilmory Cemetery. The property was sold to Alex Stewart on Nov. 18, 1871 for $10.00, signed by John and Duncan Stewart and Daniel Baxter. The caretaker of the cemetery in 1968 was Mr. Meikle, of Belmont.

The memorials I submitted were done prior to the submissions you question. The cemetery itself is listed on Canada's Gen-Web Cemetery project as 'Stewart's/Kilmory Cemetery' however the sign says 'Kilmartin-Stewart Cemetery' yet the cemetery is listed in their index as'Stewart's/Kilmory Cemetery'. They do not have 'Kilmartin-Stewart Cemetery' listed in their index at all.

Some of the things people on here do never ceases to amaze me! LOL! Have you contacted Find A Grave? Better yet...did you get a picture of the sign?!
