Gertrude Screws
My information came from the burial records of the cemetery. If you want definite documentation, write the cemetery for their burial records on her.

That is what I figured. I will see about getting the 2015 burial memorial removed. It appears to be made from an obit.

That land belonged to my Great great great grandfather Joseph Heard. He was in the GA militia during the War of 1812.

Do you have any more knowledge of the other Edwards in Perry Co? I did see some other early dates on memorials.

RE: Edward Cemetery
Looking at Edwards Cemetery index of memorials, I see that 2015 burial was place in the Find A Grave cemetery. Is this cemetery still active?

Find A Grave Memorial# 142253973

I know you have been there and could answer that question for me.

Also, I am making sure this cemetery is placed on the Alabama Cemetery Preservation Alliance registration list.

Did the input and changes made. Thanks.

You said, "I proved John Edwards son, James, that md. Alice for myself & my sister in DAR so that is us on the DAR site."

A total of 40 members have proven John Edwards as their patriot. I saw that you and your sister's are the only James application.

My patriot Find A Grave # 25210074 Lewis Cookson Davis. He is the only with a known grave site. Visit his memorial when you can.

RE: Edward Cemetery
Thank you for the will information. I was going to see what documentation was use to prove the children that they had didn't list all in the will as those lines haven't been used for membership.

According to several Edmonds researchers, Mary Edmonds married a Barton. Her nearly-adult children are listed in the AL 1850 FEDERAL census with their grandfather Wm Edmonds.

Marguerite Malone published a Heard book in the 1980's listing Mary's maiden as Edmonds with Wm being her father. Of course, this can be found online in most family trees without documentation! Edmonds researchers have shown me documentation to prove that that isn't the case. Wm's daughter Mary married a Barton and there is no other Mary of the age that married Joseph M. Heard.

So, going back to Edwards thinking:
Mary Edwards Heard was 1904 and buried in Union Parrish, LA in Shiloh Cemetery without a marker. The Find A Grave memorial used the Malone book as source of information so her maiden name is Edmonds.

Using the NSDAR applications as documentation for John's wife as Suzannah Collins, I made a Find A Grave memorial for her. There may not be a marker for her now, but I can't imagine her being anywhere except next to her husband John in Edwards Cemetery. She died six years before him.

I know that people have found old upright marker on the ground, flat and covered with inches of leaves and soil. Maybe that is the case with this.

Next Saturday, the DAR and SAR are marking my Lewis Cookson Davis' grave near Prattville, AL. Some chapter should do John Edwards too. My lines left Perry County and went west. The older Heard man died in Union Parish, LA so a group settled there but others went on to TX.
