I have been doing genealogy for about 20 years and use FindAGrave for clues for my research. A group of Roop and related famiiies have a website at and we have collected an amazing number of tombstone pictures from all over the country. I thought sharing those photos and the obits that we have also collected might help someone else in their research. Finding a new cousin or two would be a great bonus!

I am a retired gymnastics club owner, have five grandchildren and enjoy scapbooking and gardening when I'm not searching the web for more information on my many family lines. My husband's family is from north Louisiana, my mother's family is from an area about 30 miles from where I live, but my dad's family is from Decatur, Adams Co, IN, so the internet has been a major investigative tool.

RE: William Prow & Esther Swisher
I hate to bother you again, Do you know if John Merica left any Records or Perhaps a Bible? His Mother in Law Saloma Swisher was my GGG Grandmother, we do not know when or where she passed or where she is buried. Saloma lived with John and Esther in Indiana and Ohio. After Esther died John went to Missouri.

We are also searching for Johns Father in Law, Michael Swisher, he died in 1864 in Indiana of small pox. We dont know about him either, we are also searching for Michaels parents.

John was in Eco 17th Indiana Infantry with his Brother in Laws Nathan Swisher, Joseph Swisher, and John Sherred during the Civil War.

Thank you for your time.

Maraba DePew Clayton
I see you made this memorial for Maraba DePew Clayton and wondered if you have any connection to the family? I am trying to locate a descendant for Maraba's parents -- Isaac and Margaret DePew. The missing grave marker for Maraba's mother's plat has been found and I am trying to get it replaced properly on it's base. Let me know if you know of any family members who can assist me. Thank you.

RE: Mrs.. Jerry Ferris
I apologize. I sent the obituary to the wrong person. Mrs. Jerry Ferris is the sister of Peuella A. Hunter. Mrs. Jerry Ferris is the daughter of James Hunter and Elizabeth Roop. I must have done this when my brains were scrambled. Thank you for letting me know I sent the obituary to the wrong person.

RE: Victor S. Reed
You are very welcome Margie. I spent 35 years searching for my g-great grandmother's grave. Now I transcribe cemeteries in the summer and search old newspapers for obituaries in the winter, so maybe others won't have to spend so many years searching for their family members. Glad I could help with your family mystery. Juelette Fadness
