I started actively researching the family ancestry in 2006 and my daughter started almost 20 years earlier. In this search, we have looked for the final resting places of our ancestors and their families. We found many, but some are lost and the cemeteries abandoned, uncared for &/or destroyed. For this reason, I am especially interested in documenting and preserving the memory of the pioneer cemeteries and those buried in them.|
I am a former member of the Genealogical Society of Marion County (Indiana).
Although the Internet is a great tool and source of genealogical information, a lot of this information is incorrect, misleading and self-perpetuating. Just because it is written, does not make it true. Facts are not facts until they are proven. (That is why Ancestry.com calls everything a "hint".) Remember that genealogy without documentation is mythology!
Find A Grave is no exception. There are memorials with incorrect personal information, the wrong cemetery (even with photos from the correct cemetery) or showing cemeteries that don't exist or have made up names. So treat everything as a hint until it is verified as a fact. Remember that bad information is never right and it can cause others to stop looking for the truth.
Corrections and additions to my Find A Grave postings are always welcome. Please use the Edit tab on the memorial and click on the Suggest a Correction ("SAC") link. Also use the SAC link for transfer request. Transfers outside Find A Grave guidelines will be assessed on a case by case basis. Please state your specific relationship to the deceased.
Any posted grave marker photos I have taken may be copied for personal or genealogical use AS LONG AS CREDIT IS GIVEN. Written biographies may NOT be copied without permission. (Posting them on the internet, does not make them free to use.)

Oh Good! It's always nice to know that a relative got the info. Thanks for posting.

Dear IndyScot, I have just sent edits for Bruce and Lucile Osmon. I wanted you to know, I do a lot of research before I send edits and I don't believe it's true just because it's on Ancestry. Keep up the good work and thanks for the attention to my edits. Blessings, Lily
|Mike Ewing||RE: Abel Morgan #52422846|
Abel Morgan was my great-great-great grandfather. His daughter Lydia married Patrick Ewing. Among their children there were triplets, one named Putnam. Putnam was my grandfather's father by his second wife. (First wife died)
Abel Morgan is buried in a small fenced in cemetery in Decatur County which I have visited. There is no road to the cemetery and I walked across plowed fields to get there.

I am writing a two-volume book on the 8th Indiana. I would like to include photos of the soldiers and their headstones with their biographies. I would like to use some of your photos in the book and will give you credit in the caption for each photo. If you are interested, I can let you know when the book is published. If it is ok to use your photos, could you also give you your first and last name for the captions?

You must have gone into the records in the Genealogical Society because when I posted the graves for Robert, Donald and Frances they were listed under Calvary. No problem as I was looking for Ruth as she is a distant relative. Oh, by the way, maybe you can let the other person know that all the dates are wrong in those listings that are posted by them for the Frenches. I was just trying to clean up that mess by doing the postings with the correct dates. Thank you

Thank you for the offer, but I am not related to him. Perhaps one of his descendants will come along.

He tried to kill Lydia and thought he had, then took his own life. Very sad.
Thank you so much for filling the request for the photo of my great uncle's grave, I really do appreiate it.
